If it's leaking change it ASAP before it leaks on and kills your opti!
It not hard to do, you just need to be real careful that you drain all the coolant and cover the opti with allot of plastic to keep it dry.
Drain the radiator. If you can, jack the back of the car as high as you can to get as much coolant out of the block as possible.
It's just like any SBC, Just remember that the bolts on the WP go into the water jackets of the block so when you remove them coolant will pour out.
A small funnel to catch and redirect the coolant is very helpfull.
Also remember to put sealant on the bolts before you reinstall.
Im in the same situation your in. I just got my water pump today, and i gotta replace it. Im doing the T-stat while im at it. But wait, mines an LS1

Mine wasn't that hard to do. However, you may need a pry bar to get it off. Just be carefull to keep it straight while you are doing it. YOu don't wanna bend or break any of the teeth that plug in the back of it.
The cars been sitting a few months, so its probably been leaking on the opti... oh well i guess ill replace that too. lol

It's a really easy job to do. Just drain radiator, remove radiator fans, remove air intake, disconnect the hoses, and there's 6 14mm bolts that hold the water pump on. Be careful when taking it off the car as the coolant in the block will drip down along the block but if you're slow with it you won't get any on the opti. SHouldn't be more than a 2 hour job.
