heres my deal, i had a 93z28 with the single cat set up, i sold the car, took my slp headers and ypipe off, along wity my borla cat back, thought i could get some money for them, turns out, i bought a 96 trans am, with the dual cat setup, and its not loud enough for me, is there anyway i could get the single cat setup on my double cat car? or am i just wasting my time?

I presume its possible..But why would you want to do that? just spend the money and get new stuff then converting a car to a single cat...

I assume i could just buy a new system yes, however i just moved back to nj, trying to get a house...so the stuff that i already have looks really good for me...instead of spending 1000 bucks for a system i could be putting toward a down payment on a house...with a garage!!!just a thought, well thanks for your reply

Problem that you run into is that the 96 is OBD II, your 93 wasn't. What that means is that theres 4 O2 sensors on the 96. 1 before each cat, and one after each. You could swap the exhaust assembly over, but then have to buy O2 sims for the rears.

You should be able to bolt the cat-back section on if you cut part of the Borla intermediate pipe to mate up with the dual cat y-pipe. The single cat cars just had a longer I-pipe with the 'S' bend in it to reach the cat. You should be able to use it but might need a band clamp. The stock dual cat y-pipe necks down to around 2-1/2" so you might want to cut that section off and use the bigger Borla I-pipe.

Thanks for the info, i had the car up on jackstands not too long ago to see what i was getting myslelf into, it is a pain in the ass, i saw that i could cut it, but but decided against it at the time, thought maybe about the whole system swap, but then i ran into the computer problems, maybe it is better if i let it go, and save up for somethings else? who knows, thanks for the info though, how much can i get for a system like that?

I was thinking you just wanted to put the cat-back on the 96. But after reading your post again, it sounds like you want to put the headers, y-pipe and cat-back on. You could probably do that if you wanted to but the AIR fittings on the 93 headers won't match up with the 96 stuff. And there is different AIR pipe routing on the 96 so the 93 headers might not fit on the passenger side. I think you'd be better off selling the stuff and waiting until you save up enough to do it right. You could still put the cat-back on the 96 though. You would need to cut the I-pipe or dual cat y-pipe though. So once you do that, there's no going back. I have the dual cat y-pipe off my 96 now so if you wanted to use that as a model to figure out where to cut you're welcome to borrow it.

Thanks a lot, I did match up all of the parts, the headers vs the manifolds, and i did see that the AIR pipes wouldn't match up. I think i'm just going to wind up taking a loss and selling my stuff, i think the borla would do okay on ebay...the headers though i'm not too sure about, thanks for all the info...

Go to Speeddensity.org (http://www.speeddensity.org/) you should be able to sell the headers to somebody with a 93 there pretty easily.
