in one of the other threads, people started talking about their first car. was your first car an f-body? was it even a sports-like car?

mine was a 1972 pontiac gran ville. two doors, bench seats, huge trunk and 455 cubic inches under the hood. i didn't own an f-body until 1989. since then, i've only been without an f-body for 2 years.

I bought a 1982 firebird se. I had it about a week and noticed it kept losing all it's coolant. It turned out it had a cracked block. I took it back to the dealer I bought it from and used that car as my down payment on a new 1987 firebird formula that I still own:).

My first ride was a rusty 1976 Chevy Monte Carlo. 350-4bbl, TH350 trans. I bought it from the original owner, and it only had 48K miles on when I bought it in 1990. It lasted me 8 months; I beat the death outta that poor thing!

Someday, when I'm rich, I'll own another, but it'll be slammed to the weeds on 18" wheels, and have an injected 502 with a Richmond 6-speed. Hey, we can dream, right? :)

1979 Ford Granada. Black 4 door with a tan vinyl top and a tan interior. I could shut the engine off walk into wawa grab a drink and by the time i got back the motor would be still running (sorta). The thing would diesel for a LONG time. That was the car I drove when I got my license. I had the Chevelle (Which was my true first car, but it wasnt done) I then moved onto my 92 Cherokee 4.0HO which ran till the end of Senior year of HS then the engine leaked oil from the rear main seal I would get five bucks of gas and five bucks of oil when i went to the gas station. Sold that and got the Camaro.

1986 Lincoln Towncar. That thing was awesome! The engine blew in 1991, the previous owner (a friend of my fathers) has a good friend that works in the R&D section of (what is now) SVT at ford. They had a bunch of 5.0L left over they were getting rid of they were HO engines that were used as test motors in what would become the 1993 Mustang Cobra, so my car was treated to one of them. When i finally received it, it had about 50K on that engine, so i proceeded to warm it up a little bit, exhaust work, work a few others. The exhaust note on that thing was NASTY. I had limited funds but still that car did a high 15-low 16, that's not too bad all things considering a stock 2003 Marauder does the quarter in mid 15s. I wish i still had that car and the money i do now. You'd be looking at a 13 second towncar, especially with the 351 in my shed looking for a new home. I miss that car :(

Mine was a black 78 Camaro Berlinetta with a straight 6. It handled like a bus and my riding mower could easily take it off the line :grampsch: but it sure did look good. I only had it for about 10 months before I got my first new car, a red 89 Z24.

First car was a 1992 Camaro RS 3.1L V6, quesar blue, hardtop, auto. My dad bought it wrecked (smacked up in the front) and fixed it for me. I wish I coulda kept it when I bought the iroc, it was a reliable car, only problem I ever had with it was the coolant switch. As for the iroc, bought it totaled from a friend and repaired it at the body shop I was working at.

you know better than to ask a question like that. i drove a ford pickup with 3-on-the-tree when i was 13. we (him, me and my pop) were out cutting down trees and the truck's owner wanted to be sure i could get them outta there should there be an accident. circa 1977.

Once, and it was a customer’s car. Took me a few minutes to figure it out. It was an old lady’s car and I now forget what it was.

A guy I knew in high school has a falcon wagon. It was different all right. :)

Yup...I grew up next to a farm (I practically lived there), and they had a Ford P/U with 3 on the tree that I used to drive around the property when I was real young. I learned how to drive when I was 8 on their 56 Chevy Step-side.

My first car was an 86 trans am that i resotred with my dad was a bad ass car. But only a 305 :(. I sold that after a while and got the camaro driving it only a few months as my daily driver and then got my 92 jeep wrangler that took it's place. Now that camaro just sits in the garage covered for most of the time. I have become very anal about my camaro since i have gotten the jeep.

my turn:
1992 Camry V6 got it with 151k on the clock and junked it with 154k on the clock. the tranny was slipping when i got it and my neutral drops and off-roading only made it worse. that car was fun as hell. very predictable in all situations. beat a 305 turd gen drag racing down a two lane street once too... yeah so my dad didnt want to put a new tranny in it cause of all the other problems the car had so we bought the camaro i have now which was my first non-hand-me-down car so to speak. i then drove the camry into the ground until it could move no more.
