So I've had this 98+ SS Spoiler sitting in my garage for the past 3 months and I finally decided Id take a shot at putting it on. I got the stock spoiler off and relized that it has its own studs built in, while the SS spoiler does not. The SS Spoiler was painted when I bought it second hand, and the kid warned me it needed a little sanding to fit flush with the rest of the car. Well I did a test fit and it came out horrible! Its ****ing rediculous how bad it is in the front. It fits great in the rear and it lines up and all, but its worse then I thought. Not to mention I have to buy new studs to hold the dam thing in, and a $150 LED tail-light for it. Thank god I haven't put money into the spoiler. Its only cost me $40 so far, when a new one usually goes for about $200+

that does fit like crap up front, no doubt about that. The rear looks really nice though. Good luck, you're gonna need it

i say throw it out...in my trash and just ring my doorbell when you do..for no real reason. lol but seriously, just start working away at it, maybe a large shop belt sander would help.

Back to my post...

Im sure once its sanded down ALOT more it should sit better. Mind you the spoiler is not bolted in so it looks more drastic then it really is, but its still out their! Tommorow I'll be making a run to the hardware store to pick up some studs so I can really see how much needs to be sanded down. If anyone wants to lend an arm your more then welcome  Its gonna hurt!

is that a gm part or is it an aftermarket fiberglass spoiler. if it is aftermarket(which it looks like judging from the fitment) through it right in the garbage. fiberglass sucks ass big time. if that is a true gm peice i am shocked that it would fit that ******.

oh yeah. **** sanding by hand use a D/A

"Well, if your gonna sand it, I would suggest using the Binford 6100 120v 24 inch belt sander. This will sand that puppy to a perfect fit in no time, but I rather use my sander..... HEIDI, BRING OUT MY SANDER!" :)

See how bad it is after you bolt it on, it may look worse then it is right now since its loose.

It's tough to tell from the pictures but that doesn't look like the spoiler on my SS. That looks way to thick up front but it's really hard to tell from the pictures.

I was wondering if it was different from the LT1 to LS1 cars.

good point. i got original 96 SS parts for my Z from the factory (bought it last year, after the plant was torn down.....can you say NOS pieces!!!!!!!) and they test fit great.

Its defenitly aftermarket. And Im going to go with it being a Wings West spoiler due to the fact that their fitment sucks (so I read on LS1Tech) The spoiler fits no doubt about it, lines up in to the wholes perfectly its just rought on one side. We'll see I tried going to the auto parts store looking for similar studs but I had no luck with finding anything close. Im going to try my friends massive collection of bolts, hardware store, then god forbid... dealer.
