Look out guys. If it works out in LA, they may spread that stuff all over. Those of you who think you can run, may not be able to anymore.

I wonder how far the cops will back off?

You could always just pull over for a second, yank it off and stick it to something else...

They already have EMP wepons, nothing as "high tech" as shooting a rocket powered harpoon, but they have things that can knock your your electrical system.

Bratton, who often calls the city the car chase capital of the world, was asked why there are so many pursuits in Los Angeles: "There are a lot of nuts here," he said.

i think there are so many because the police engage in the chase. ever been chased by a cop? one of the most exhilerating feelings in the world. i could see how someone could get addicted to it. especially if they could get away. i wish them luck with this technology and i do hope (if successful) that the technology becomes widespead.

i do not condone running from the cops. if a cop signals you to pull over, then pulling over is your best course of action.

those gps things are interesting, but how accurate at 100mph will they be? will they stick in rain? whos firing it? a persuing car of a officer on the side of the road? if from a persuing car, will wind resistance at 100mph slow it to the point it may not stick? Theres a lot of variables and i think it will take alot of testing to actually make it worthwhile, but in like 2-3 years it could be possible.

The big thing to fear is the takeover of car systems by satellite. Where based off the plate number the police could get your VIN and have a signal sent to your car to take over drive by wire controls and basically bring the car to a stop without letting the driver loose control. Many of the newer cars could possibly have systems almost this advanced right now. So i would not be shocked to see the possibility for this method to show up in the next 2-3 years as well.

the systems police have developed so far for killing the electrical system are no where near approved for actual use and probably never will be, the main problem is that once the car is dead, it can become almost impossible to control. They have shock "pads" which when the car drives over, it sends a high voltage current that fries part of the electrical system. There also is a rocket powered "skateboard" type device that mounts to the frotn of a police cruiser and when fired it rolls/shoots forward and under the persued car, once under, it emits a shock upward. but like the other system, its very dangerous because the drive can easily loose control.

well i think you misunderstood me, i meant if the car is travelling at 100mph, how accurate will the gun/cops be at actually hitting the target vehicle. lol

many cops it seems have a hard enough time with accurate shooting when theyre standing still
