My cousin was asking me where she could get a good radar detector for a upcoming trip. I dont have any experiance with them. Has anyone bought one recently, or have any idea on what kind or where to get one?

Thanks

K40 makes good detectors. I have a K40 undetectable system in my T/A. Don't know how much it costs because it was installed by the original owner, but it's undetectable by police radar, and visibly undetectable. All the controls and lights are built into the dash, and the detectors are located in the bumpers, so you don't have that hiddeous box stuck on your windshield. Great system. I know K40 makes ones that mount on your windshield or whereever for like $60.

i had a k40 in my Caddy, just like LS1hawks, with the sensors in the front bumoper and rear bumper, worked awesome. Then i had a cheaper windshield unit in my SS. i got it from a friend cause he owned me money so i took it instead, cant remember which company it was though. but anythign like 50-150 should do the trick. bell, k40, passport etc are all good.

well, the V1 and the newest escort passports are usually the best bets. Although that K40 system sounds good too.

The K40 has a great band, and recognizes X, K, and Ka band signals. Mine has two filters, one for city and one for highway. I would have never thought of putting one in myself. But after buying a car with it already installed, I will definitely be putting in my next car.

yes, the k40 setup is trick. they weren't the only ones dooing it back in the '80s, but i think they are the only ones left who're still doing it. hands down one of the better systems on the market and the pricetag echos that sentiment.
