Yea. So me and a bunch of other people were having a snowball fight earlier tonight before going to a diner... well as I'm running after someone to peg the bastard, I encountered a spot where the sidewalk was a bit higher than the dirt next to it... my right (go fast pedal foot!!!) ankle twisted hard, heard a crack (that was prolly nothing since my ankles constantly crack.. although that may be a whole nother problem in itself), and felt a little pain.

The pain wasnt bad, I assumed I just twisted it hard, so stood to the side. It hurt a little to walk on it over to the cars to go to the diner but I gimped my way along... after we were leaving the diner tho it got real bad, couldnt really even put weight on the foot... looked down to see it was swellign up bigtime (as in my ankle was swollen to the point where it filled the whole top of my shoe), and decided ohh boy, gotta get this checked out.

Went to the ER... got X-rays and all that. Nothing broke thankfully (according to the "preliminary" x-ray reading), but its sprained real bad. Got a nifty little air splint, some crutches (first time in my life... a little awkward lol) and a prescription for some Naprosyn... had an ice pack on it and the swelling went down a tad but the little bone sticking out on the outside of my ankle is swollen up bigtime. They told me to call tomorrow cuz thats when the x-rays will officially be ready (if they see anything then that they didn't see tonight they're gonna give me a call), and told me to either call thier orthopedist on call or my own (i think my mom has one) for a follow up/check up type thing. Soooooo yea. Still sorta hurts... not much right now since theres no weight on it.

Now to figure out hwo the hell to get aroudn campus... and looks like driving is out of the question for now... which includes gettign to work... which SUCKS because I have $1 in my wallet and $13 or so on my debit card :/

Who woulda thought snowball fights could suck so hard?

from now on im prolly gonna be dead to the world, and plus youll have to rely on barb for bringing you to the trucks. watch out that he doesnt take you to his house and put you in a cage, since you know, you're easier to catch now and itd be harder for you to escape

Years ago(ok, eons ago), my roommate at college was playing football in the snow and his girlfriend tackled him on an ice patch and broke his collarbone! Needless to say, it's a lot harder to party when you have all that hardware wrapped around your chest to protect your collarbone. I've sprained each ankle at least 20-30 times. I can stand on them sideways at a 90 degree angle now. Screw the crutches, just ride somebody's dog around campus!

hahaha

the pain isnt bad now... only if i put too much weight on it.

The splint is good, keeping it straight and also since it goes a little below my feet I can put a little bit of weight on that side, with the splint holding it up.

Crutches tho..... ****ing SUCK!!!! pain in the ass awkward ****in POS's

What I've learned today: crutches friggin SUCK. my armpits are killing me, and its so clumsy and inconvinient...

So while in the city tonight / after taking the painkillers for the first time, I figured out that while it's slower, it's less painful and easier to use the crutches like a cane. So i had my friend who was driving stop by home, and picked up a cane we had lying around... so now I'm pimpin' the old grandpa wooden cane :D

If the crutches are in your armpits you're using them wrong. They should NOT be up against the armpit, but rather an inch or so below. It will still hurt for a couple days, but a way to avoid it is to put washcloths around the pads as some extra cushion. They should not be awkward either. I'm willing to bet that you told them you were 5'3" like you normally do, and so they put the crutches for that height, but they are too big. If they go lower, try putting 'em lower and see if it makes it better.

I'm an expert on crutches, I've been on 'em enough times. I"m sure James could back me up in what I've said as well ;)

If it's still huring you, you can call up student services and they should send you a car to drive you as close as they can to your class. Their supposed to do it but they usually tell you to walk because the student services at Willy-P are lazy piecs of amphibian **** IMO...

Right but knowing the way the school functions id need to fill out 3257627934853 papers, which wouldnt get processed until August, and even if they did go thru then they would be at least 30 min late every time... f that, ill drive myself
