so im going down 80 on my way to school and i see a state trooper in my rearview in the fast lane...i was in the middle lane doin 65-70...i get over cuz 80 splits pretty soon so now im in the slow lane...i notice him start speeding up and he pulls into the middle lane but doesnt get behind me so i figured im good....then 80 is about too split and he pulls behind me.....i figured he cant pull me over i didnt do anything....WRONG 1 minute later he puts on his lights and junk....i pulled over, shut off the car, got my stuff out and waited...he came by the passanger side window and said state trooper roll down the window....so my passanger side window goes down SLOWLY since the motor is so shot....he asks for my stuff and then asked me do you know why im pulling you over? i answered him saying honestly sir i have no idea....he then asked me where im from and where i was going i told him wayne blah blah and then to school....he then asked if i was wearing my seatbelt the hole time or if i had just put it on...i told him...sir my good friend was just killed last week in a car accident because he wasnt wearing his seatbelt, i never go anywhere without putting it on first.....he didnt say anything and then he walked to the front of my car took a look....then came to the window handed me my stuff and said you can go have a nice day....

this was my first time getting pulled over....i never new that you can be pulled over if they suspect your not wearing a seatbelt...i thought that was second offense thing?? o well...thats my story =]

Don't you hate that gut dropping feeling when a cop car comes up behind you... regardless if your guilty of something or not?

Good you got out of it. Doing 80 on rt. 80 is nothing around there.

i believe they can pull you over for not having your seatbelt on, but not positive. I've been pulled over a number of times, for a while it was every 2 weeks whether i needed it or not. some for ********, like a headlight out, ONE of the bulbs in my 3rd brakelight out on my jeep, for doing a burnout in a diner parking lot in the camaro, speeding, whatever. I don't get tickets though.. PBA cards = teh ****!

Savage_Messiah

seatbelt and cell phone are both primary violations now IIRC

ShitOnWheels
02-21-2006, 09:28 AM
Seatbelt is primary offense. Cell phone I thought was still secondary.

i got pulled over a few months back and the cop gave me a seatbelt ticket, even though i had it on the whole goddamn time!!!!!

then he says, and by the way, you were doing 60 in a 55, i could have given you a ticket for that too if my radar gun was on.

BS!!!!!!!!

he wanted to get me for speeding but couldn't cuz his gun wasn't on, so he gave me a ******** ticket for no seatbelt even though i had it on?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

i dont even remember my first time... being pulled over that is. i think it was for soemthign stupid in my GTA. And up to this date, ive been pulled over easily over 100 times. but i never had more than 2 points on my license at one time.

I used to get that gut dropping feeling when getting pulled over, but now it doesnt bother me one bit. Now I know as soon as they ask for my paperwork, itll all be over and i can go on my way. its good to have several connections. hehe.

i have had cops write me for no seatbelt instead of a "more serious" offense (read: more money) like leaving my license home or something. seatbelt tickets are only $60, i think.

just because you have had some **** experiences with cops dosent mean that everyone involved in the profession is a ****head, many of you need to pull your heads out of your asses when you talk about "hating cops" and "cops pulled me over cus of my car", its never anyones fault someone HAS to be out to get them. newsflash lots of people on here drive louder, nicer, faster, more flashy cars and dont have any problems being "profiled". so when you do somthing stupid take acountability for it and dont run home to the boards and tell everyone that you were just treated like rosa parks.

most of the cops i have dealt with were cool. if you are straight with them they will usually be cool with you, even when you both know you jsut did something hella stupid.
there are cops who are out to make some sort of point, i have certainly dealt with them too. many of you guys have already heard the story of me getting pulled over after i parked in a 7-11 for accelerating away from a light 2 miles earlier without spinning the tires or speeding. that guy was definately one of THOSE cops. lol
you have the right to say basically anything you want to a cop as long as you do not threaten him or commit yourself to an illegal act. if a cop is rude to you or if you feel he is being overly stern you do have the right and shoudl say so. if the officer wants to start yelling, that is where it ends.
police are not allowed to yell at, swear at, or threaten action against any citizen unless it is preceeded by an illegal act by that citizen.

when did you see me making a thread about how i was treated unfairly by cops? if i ever did get a ticket for anything i wouldnt post it. If i did get it its probably bacause i deserved it. I dont have a problem if someone pulls me over for speeding in town because i know i do it, and if i get pulled over so be it. But if i get pulled over for a broken tail light which is not even broken upon my inspection in front of a cop then that my friend if total ********. or if someone get pulled over for a spoiler which comes stock on the car and cop gives him a ticket for it and later he goes to court and owns the cop that is ******** too. If someone get pulled over for loud exhaust which happens to be stock that is ******** too. Would you like me to continue or what?
Oh and just FYI i dislike cops not because they give out stupud useless tickets that i don't care about, but i have some other personal and family related reasons not to like them.

Now go ahead and tell me how all the cops are great and never do anything wrong and abide by the law at all times

not for nuthin....most cops are ******** and on power kicks now i said MOSTTTT not alll.......most are floating on their newly developed egos....NOW FOR the ones that arent ******** and are nice there the ones who will pull you over ... simply to do the bs checking paperwork insurance license registration and whatnot but mostly to be like in about 50 of my situations "this is a nice fast car, keep it like that---- or dont kill yourself in this it would be a waste of a nice car and an even more important-a life" whats done to your car etcc....
now to talk about being profiled it definitly happens.... KID in a fast car esp convertible OMFG.... i was pulled over 3 times a week when i first had my license.... and i heard everything....most of them being total BS... broken this broken that you were having sex 20 minutes ago in your car in that parking lot ....car too loud...no seatbelt "the one time i wassss wearing it" 40 in a 25 the one time i wasnttt speeding and my radar didnt go off, bike cop on the other side of the road looking down the whole time noo radar gun.. "now son you must have been doing 60 mph in this 55" on rt 80,,,,i couldnt help but to laugh and i had to say there were people flyinggg by me in the fast lane what about them..."not relevant" and there are 100 more times-- i dont feel like boring you all... the 1st time i got that gut feeling after that it was like wtf now... now i have a police shield in my window, Stack of PBA cards, and my Bergen County Prosecutors Office ID CARD... Now with all thatt I STILL get harassed until i pull out my Prosecutors ID stating i work for the county because im 20 and a young male..then i get the Sorry i did not know, Buckle up... now this all happens in my chevelle and my camaro...... when i drive my suburban or when i had my tbird nothing... so KID in Fast car = Pulled over and harassed... Now im not saying i hate the cops for the 3 cops or future cops who posted... i work with the top detectives and cops in my county all the stuff i said is true according to them because i asked about that **** my 1st day on the job...why you might ask? simple... young people 17-25 A highest insurance.... Easy to prove in court... Easy targets..... most of the time easy win for the cop 17-25 most of the time dont hire a lawyer./// and if you dont whos the judge going to believe You or his friend or associate the Oath abideing sworn in state servant lol/// Good Luckkkkk unless your politically connected or family member is a cop to call the other cop and have a favor done.... id loveee to hear what the future cops have to think about what i wrote.... and if you need a recognition letter or anything to the academy or an internship let me know

Thanks Jared

i still dont get how people can say cops pick on them because of the car. since ive had my lisence ive had a red convertible 4th gen camaro, a red 98 mustang gt, a honda cbr600rr. and now my trans am....i can not think of a situation where it was my CAR and not my ACTIONS that got me pulled over

im in north jersey 5 minutes from NYC where there are more cops driving around then there are people in your town,,,, And yes its the car not my actions.... now from my job and experience when you get pulled over they call in the plates to make sure there is no outstanding warrants and if the car is stolen or in the system as Dangerous Proceed with caution...... in all of my cases the get behinde you throw on the lights pull behinde you.... call it in quick quick and walk rite up to the car within 30 seconds of the pull over... it takes a good 4-5 minutes to get info back on the plate so thats proof rite there they know your a kid and are pullin you over for some bs... its a bs reason due to the fact that they dont call it in and wait...

Mike

im in north jersey 5 minutes from NYC where there are more cops driving around then there are people in your town.....

please explain how you come to the conclusion that you have more cops than my town has people?

and i didnt say that some people dont get pulled over for nothing, but it happens a lot less than people like to claim. Many people, since this is a automotive forum wouldnt want to post about their inability to drive getting them pulled over, so they make up stories about ****head cops rather than not posting.

and your saying that if you are getting pulled over for a real reason they will sit behind your car for 4-5 minutes before they get out and walk up to your window?....in reality they get out of their car in a "procede with caution" mindset wether they are pulling over the unibomber or your great grandmother underestimating a situation gets people killed.

if cops pull people that arent doing anything wrong simply because of the car they are driving, why dont we see more corvettes, vipers, etc. sitting on the side of the road as we drive around? is it that hard to admit that you may have rolled through a stop sign, not had a seatbelt on, been going 5 or 10 over or changed lanes without a blinker to get pulled over?
