View Full Version : Questions about 95 Trans Am functional Cowl Hood
I was thinking about getting a cowl hood for my 1995 trans am because I think they look a lot better than the ram air hoods, plus they're cheaper. I was thinking though if I changed my intake to a warm air intake it'd be better in terms of performance then a cold air intake because of the force fed air coming down. What do you guys think about that?

The pressure at the cowl would feed air into the back edge of the hood. By the time the air got past the engine to the stock airbox, it would probably be pretty hot. They do look good though.

I had a cowl on my camaro, and was trying to think of every which way to make it functional (hours upon hours at home depot and deep thinking LOL) but I don't think there is a way. At least a way that would help you gain power.
The cowl does look good on the 4.1 firebirds. At the very least, it could be used as a cooling aid. How big did you want to go?

yea my cowl hood acts as a chimney, it was pretty funtional when i had the TBI set up but now i got the TPI with a gutted air box = ram air:)
its not impossible to make a cowl hood function properly. just look at the first gen camaros with cowl hoods. you just need to figure out a way to get the air cleaner assembly to seal up against the hood so no underhood air gets into the motor. not very hard at all.
screw it i'll just do the cold air intake and throttle body since that's the most effective way to change a non-ram air set up
you're probably better off
