Man, you gotta get those injectors changed!

i was avoiding that, you really think thats the only problem though, it ran fine for like a month n then it dies overnight?
first thing im guna do is change the oil n see what comes out, if that checks ok then i guess ill do the injectors...

ok i got most of the tpi stuff off and everything disconected, few questions tho
1. is the FPR the same on 305s and 350s
2. is the fuel rail the same
i bought 305 injectors and a fuel rail and i was just guna swap the whole rail out, but the hard fuel lines are frozen together so im just guna swap the actual injectors.
also since my plugs are soaked with gas do i have to take each one out and dry it off or ya think i could get away with just doing a few of them, or will it just evaporate if its not started for a few days!?

i was gonan may maybe the CTS is making it no start
maroman88
03-12-2006, 07:16 PM
CTS = ??
well this is still a great reason to put the correct injectors in lol

ok i think i do hear something clicking from the distributor area, or maybe the coil, i pulled the 2 plugs on the coil and with the car in run, only one had power, but when plugged in all 4 have power

Dunno, now you've got me. I had that happen once to me, and it turned out to be the ignition module.
Another thing to check, maybe the diaphragm on the fuel pressure regulator is ripped? That would make it full of gas pretty quick.

isnt the ignition module inside or under the dist cap? i have spark everywhere i checked, at the coil and the wires at the dist and at the plug

i forgot i tested the ignition module with a power tester, with the key in the run position i tested both of the conectors, the 2 wire one had 1 with power and 1 without, the four or five wire connector had no power to any wires, (the ignition module is what the wires plug into on the dist right?) lol

This is what an HEI ignition module looks like:

It is found under the disributor cap.

Right, I forgot that you have a small cap HEI on the car. I'm just used to seeing the large cap on my car now....

i picked a new one up, in my manual it says when you install it to coat the bottom of it and the metal mount with a silicon lubricant so it doesnt fry. where can i get this lude stuff?

There should be a small tube of dielectric grease in the box with the new module. If not, I have some at my house if you wanna swing by and grab it later on.

haha didnt even notice but it was in the box, thanks anyway steve!

installed the new ignition module and still no start, how about the coil? it makes spark but maybe not enough? i dunno what else to check

Well, if you've got spark, and you know the fuel is getting there, it should at least turn over. Did you try a new set of plugs, or just dry the original ones out?
maroman88
03-16-2006, 09:14 AM
all it does is turn over, just wont start. i dried off most of the plugs the other day and even lightly sanded off a layer of blackness, i guess ill give that another shot today since there probably soaked again

took out some plugs again to dry them off and there just sooo wet, do you guys think maybe the fuel pressure regulator is bad? if it was bad would it just allow way too much fuel to pass through, thus dumping so much fuel to soak the plugs so they wont spark?

Yea, this could be the issue. Might want to look into it.

replaced the FPR and still no start, i was thinkin maybe the coil, i did a search on here and looks as though a coil never goes bad. im guna pull my computer tomorrow and check it out, swap chips around(i just sold my extra computer on ebay!!!) im pretty sure everything that should have power does..........

whats next, i am clueless
