car is an 88 mustang, T5 trans. sometimes it will not go into first, unless you let off the clutch and slam it back to the floor, then itll pop in...no grinding. then you can go 2nd, 3rd, then when you try for 4th it will not go in, just grinds. any ideas? my list so far is clutch/pressure plate, shifter/clutch cable, worn synchros.

Did you check the clutch quadrant adjustment? If it is still a self adjuster style, pull the pedal all the way up with your hand, you should feel it sorta click then push the clutch to the floor a couple times. This should readjust the clutch cable if the system is working correctly.

im going with clutch all together, just ditch it if its stock and throw a centerforce dual friction in it you'll be happy
