View Full Version : my LS1 damage pictures
ok, motor is out. i was right with my first guess as to the cause...It was #1 rod that let go for some reason. Damaged parts so far are... block, front cover, oil pan, rod, a/c compressor bracket, and the steering rack mount(last picture), and possibly #1 cylinder valves/head... all that equals a new longblock... WHOOHOO lmao

how do you crack it like that? its like it almost took effort...sorry.
i really had no part in blowing it up. I just turned the key, it fired up and BOOM...that was the end of it. lol

yea and didnt you say you were pretty close to stock in it (meaning a few mods)?

only mods were catback(came factory with an slp catback anyway), shorty headers(installed for about 10min of run time before it blew), and an air lid(w/dirty paper filter)... so very close to stock.
before this, i also blew my rear up twice, first time i put a piece of the carrier out through the rear cover. I also damaged the oem clutch disc by spinning the splines inside the disc itself, and i also put a 5" crack down the oem torque arm... all that on a 99% stock setup....

I dont think your SS likes you. You should just give it to me so you wont have to deal with it anymore :wink:
lol, maybe, but i think that my SS just wants its bigger motor asap. :-D

Is this an example where powered rods break instead of bending like forged rods? I’ve read this before, which is why I ask. I’m no engine expert.
