I had my friend install if for me and i personally dont notice that Big of a difference. Besides the fact that it now holds 2nd gear almost all the way out before shifting into 3rd.
It seems a bit tighter but i wanted to know what experience others have had with either the B&M or the transgo. .

I know when i first installed it my car was slipping into gear which scared hte living crap out of me (i nearly had a heart attack). . . My friend said the computer had to reprogram itself to the kit, At least now it drives perfectly so im happy.

By the way i have a 95 3.8

AFAIK the computer won't change at all in reference to the kit. It certainly won't reprogram itself.

yeah i figured the computer didnt reprogram itself. . though after driving with it the first hundred miles or so it seemed to get progressivly better.
How should a shift kit feel when shifting? Ive never driven a car with one before so i dont know. .

it should be quicker and firmer shifts

I had a B&M in my old second gen. it shifted pretty hard compared to stock, but that was with a TH-350.

ive dont the b&m kits on 3rdgen 700's and depending if u set it to heavyduty/rv or street/strip it should shift faster lil harder for hd/rv, on s/s u should get really fast extra firm shifts

yeah I think i need to let someone else test drive it and see if they notice a difference. I installed the street/strip kit so i was expecting it to be alot faster. Why would it hold second gear to like 5K rpms before shifting into third? it shifts normally under normal conditions but when i really hit the gas it seems to hold second out (which it never did before).

thats what shift kits do. when you go WOT, it holds the gear longer.

um...what Ian said, what did you expect it to do? be the same as stock?

no haha i was expecting firmer faster shifts, I didnt know it was going to hold the gear out longer.

Ian,

Do you mean besides the fact that it increases line pressure?

IMO the TransGo kits are the best on the market.

I got the Transgo shift kit in mine I love it and couldnt be more happy with it.When i'm going full throttle from a stop i do it in D. all the way until i reached the speed i am going for then before i let up off the gas i switch to overdrive. Whats wrong with your shift kit holding the gears out?? i thought that it did that so it could maximize RPM and horsepower in the powerband no guys??
I do love it when going full throttle chirps 1st 2nd and 3rd In my car except going into reverse from a stop has to be done with a little care in my car or it starts chirping and wanting to scream backwards LOL
But i thought that was the purpose of the kit to maximize line pressure and help the gears hold the powerband right??
Just like the Manual guys do when they race trying to finish the 1/4 mile with out going to O.D.or 6th gear correct??

Yes I know that, but not everyone know that that equates to holding the gear longer and shifting harder.

5 and 6 speed guys dont want to go any higher than 4th gear. when you go into overdrive, you lose a decent amount of torque. that and the overdrive gears arent as strong as the underdrive gears.
