View Full Version : INSIDE: Cool New Board Feature!

That's right, I have just added a new Timeslip Database to the site. You can access it by clicking on the Timeslips button on the Navbar at the top of the page, or by clicking the Edit Vehicle Profile link in your User CP. This new modification will allow you to enter your timeslip information, as well as some basic details about your car. You can also sort this list by time, speed, 60', RWHP, etc.
This will also provide a space for you to give us a link to your timeslip (if you have it hosted up on the web somewhere) or upload your timeslip to our database (if you have it saved on your computer, but not hosted on the web).
We have the ability to require a timeslip from users who enter a 1/4 mile time below a certain number. We were thinking of requiring a timeslip for any car running faster than 11.50. This will stop most people from posting any outrageous claims (not that we have had trouble with that before). Post up and let us know what you think about this. Should the time be higher or lower?
Also, since this is an F-body club, only F-body timeslips will be permitted in the database. Please do not post up times for non F-body vehicles. They will be removed.

I'll have to find my timeslip for the 1/8 mile mph. I think it's in the car.

Currently there is no way for you to add multiple times for different setups, different cars, etc.
Some other board admins have been requesting this feature from the person who created this hack, but I dunno if it will ever happen.

No, it's just that you always brag that you don't have an NA combination, so why would anyone care about those times? :p

That falls under the same catagory as multiple times for one car. At this time it can't be done without some heavy code modification, and I don't know how. It is being discussed as a possible update in the future.

hmm, seperate user names? like smokingss1 smokingss2 etc? lol

NOt sure how the code is written, but is there a way to have a check box "do you have multiple cars?" or "multiple times for one car (different set ups)?", and if yes, have listings for "Car 1" "Car 2" or "Time 1" "Time 2". There is already the power adder drop box to separate ppl with different set ups.
I dunno, it seems like it's relatively simple to me. If I knew how vB is coded and how the hack is coded I'd give it a shot.

Ok you two, can we take the pissing match elsewhere please?

It sounds easy to just add in "multiple cars" , but really it's about 5-10 very very large paragraphs and A LOT of altercations to the current script. It would be nice to have BUT it's alot better than having to update the current timeslip list.

I kinda figured it's more complicated than I'm imagining it...I haven't coded in years, and I only do basic C++ programming. Oh well.

Same. I've coded a few things here and there... but when I have helped coding a vBulletin forum site with hacks a long time ago, its a real PITA.

Yes it is. And most of the stuff you would have learned back then won't apply to 3.5. It's pretty much completely re-written. All the hacks are pretty much done with PHP, XML files (for the proucts), and HTML template edits.

Yea, I failed my C++ class but i still remember most of the things. Not that it matters cuz most of the scripting is what u said (HTML, PHP)

its a 2.2 60' :-P
and yea i think hacking the hack would be a PITA, i (used to) know a decent amount about C++ (i took a 2 year class for it) but then i later found out that the stuff he was teaching us was like 3 or 4 years old :( still how many ppl would actually need that feature besides james? :-P
Cool.
I may be #17, but I am #8 if you go by 60's
You cannot beat 350 TPI from a stop! (for the first....60 feet)
