porting anything is a tricky matter with out real hands on experence in the end you might wreck what you tryed to make better, they sell spacers with a vortex twist insert, cheep and if something goes on you dont like about it take it out, remember bigger is not always better if you screw with the ( VE ) volumetric efic ( intake verses exhaust track tuning ) it will never work right again having said that, gasket matching, smoothing of ports, ( intake ) make the port a smooth to the feel finish with polishing only the exhaust port to a mirror finish is a play, Only one motor can the intake can be polished --- ( only ) if its port injection and the injector nozzel is at the valve bowl it is called ( DOWN NOZZEL ) their is always a play and a big one but only alky sprint cars use this with high end hilborn injection type set ups --- keep what you do to a min this way you can than see a small change for the worse and stop jz

I say just attack it little by little. See if you can get a few good pics of other ported TBs so you have something to compare too.

Here she is...i cant believe he gave me all the sensors and stuff too! cost me like $33! the MAF sensor alone is $100

Done. inlet is ******, a dremel isnt the job for doing this sort of thing, but its better than stock. the outlet came out really nice after a wire wheel brushing

That looks pretty good for a first time home job. What was stopping you from getting more out of the lower portion of the inlet side?

yea now let's see if you notice ANYTHING from doing this...

Justin, i was running out of material to grind away, plus it was just extremely annoying to do. i actually went through on one spot on the left side, i had to put some epoxy over it to seal it back up...the way the maf sensor is seated, all around it the TB wall is kinda thin. i still took a decent amount off, at least 1/4 of an inch. plus its nice and clean, im sure the one im going to take off the car will be disgusting after 141k

oh and kasey, i bet i will...too bad i need tuning for it cause of the stupid MAF sensor, which means i cant put it on yet, which also means ill get a full tune at the same time, so i wont be able to tell if it made a diff

what was wrong with the dremel when porting im curious before i go and try wth mine, post some pics of the finished product

nothing wrong with it really, just really hard to cut into that stuff. its aluminum so its fairly soft, but not soft enough for it to really rip through it. a die grinder would work much better, then use the dremel for sanding/polishing

OK, I didn't realize the FWD and RWD motors were so different. Really nobody has noticed gains then they do this or even out-flowed the stock TB in their application, nobody N/A at least, but I guess the f-bodies and w-bodies are that different :?

looks good, I wanna pick up another plenum and runners, wanna give that a shot too? haha kidding

IIRC, heads, upper and lower intake, and TB are all different from FWD to RWD.

i think the heads are the same...LIM and UIM are different though, as well as the TB. the air intake is on the opposite end of the motor on a FWD (the "rear", opposite side of the belts)

If the intake manis are different I guess that could account for it then. In that case, Well done!

Yea, I think you are right. I'm thinking about the 60* v6s where the FWD cars all got better flowing aluminum heads and the rear drive cars had iron heads.

you can tell theyre different just by looking...mine has the LS1 style plastic runners for the upper intake

well the pics look decent the back looks excellent but i think u need to smooth out the front by the maf very uneven and cant be good for flow there gt it like the examplt pic u show earlier OK, I didn't realize the FWD and RWD motors were so different. ive never heard of anyone saying this, i dunno if your refering to only v6 throttle bodies because i dont know diddly about v6 tb's but i know ls1 tb are very important thing to do and most say its about 7-12 rwhp mainly because it comes into a smaller hole than the tb blade is i believe the blade is 78mm but the hole actually comes down to about 75mm then opens up again to the blade and thats what u smooth out and stuff to use its full potential and smooth out flow, agian i dunno if u were refering to v6 applications only but if not there u go,

i just put it on there...ass dyno says yes, a little more throttle response, and definitley more noise  it whistles like a turbo

btw, always check your vacuum lines kids...i left the main one to the TB off (from PCV)...sounded like i had a monster cam in it

Got the name of a tuning place?

Matt is planning on getting a full tune done by The Tuning Doctor (foff667).
