as far as I know they are a direct bolt in, hedman headers and y pipe. I have about 8 bolts off allready ;-) how far are you from 08820? so I can see about how much for a flatbed :(

I honestly tried to, I said I couldnt before but tried my hardest, I finally get alot of progress, and it "looked" as if I needed a 16 mm deep socket I could not find mine, couldnt find my wrench, went out today got one, put it on to big I say wtf put on the 15 to small go back out get a gator grip not deep enough, but works like a charm on other bolts.. Im just so pissed off its not even funny.. I mean is it really even worth all the agrivasion on ****ing gay ass lg4?!??

:werd:

and to matt: just keep buying what you need its not like your just gonna use it once and be done with it. as for taking off the stock manifolds and putting on the headers its worth it. for one you gain experience, two you save yourself a pretty good amount of money, and three u feel good that u actually did something yourself. no matter how much of a pain in the ass it is, most likely its worth it in the end.

Its really not that hard. You can do it, you do have 3 years before it really has to be done.

i said it in another of your threads and ill say it once again........if its name is vicegrip, gatorgrip, or anything with "adjustable" or "grip" in it, keep it away from your engine bay and go adjust the pipes under your sink........

take some of the money you keep buying parts with and buy a nice big tool set from sears.....a couple hundred bucks and you will have 90% of what you need on that car

Well.... for his age I'll give him a lot of credit.... also as we ALL can remember... we had no patience back at that age.

You mentioned you have 8 bolts off correct?

How many left, 2?

Ditch the gator grip.

Are the bolts stuck? If yes, did you spray with WD40 to loosen them? That makes a big help... spray the bolts down and wait for 30-45 min.

If you keep at it it will eventually come out.

Persistence is the key.

BUT, use the EXACT size wrench/ socket for the bolt... if you do not.... you may round over the sides of the nut and not be able to remove it w/ simple tools

then ya aint been busting ur ass hard enough, like i was told when i was younger, the parts didnt grow in there

btw if the 2 bolts u have left are the ones neares the firewall there easier to get from the bottom with a short wrench

it took me 2 days to do my headers myself when i was 17...it just took me a week to swap the motor by myself...

i know its tough for the headers..the manifolds are a bitch...be happy its not your daily driver and you need it to get to school or work every day....dont give up...i mean if you dont like working on cars its one thing..but if you really enjoy it just take your time and do things right..

PB Blaster is da shizzle fo' dizzle!

definately is, bought my first can of it like 2 days ago and that stuff kicks ass! works really well on rusted EGR bolts  also i decided to take the heat shields of off my manifolds but that didnt work out cuz i dont have a jack here at school and didnt feel like monkeying with the rear ones. i got the front one off on both sides, whats funny was the driver side one broke off  i soaked it in PB then tried to get it off and something felt a little rubbery when i was twisting the ratchet and after a few times i just see the bolt come out with the nut still attached to it! i plan on gettin the other 4 bolts out (2 on each side) sometime soon... stupid heat shields...

project89
04-09-2006, 03:07 PM
lol ever think that those heat sheilds are on there for a reason? better check to see what kind of wiring and **** is arounfd those shields before u take them off

Brando56894
04-09-2006, 04:56 PM
the only wires that i know that are around there are the spark plug wires and the o2 sensors at the bottom. i dont see why it would make a difference, (non ceramic coated) headers dont have heat shields..

project89
04-09-2006, 05:22 PM
as long a snothing is realy close to the manifolds i wouldnt worry about it, on some cars there are things that do get close enough, that if u take off the heat shirelds u could damge them

Brando56894
04-09-2006, 05:27 PM
what im sayin is theyd come off anyway if i put headers on there
