Im thinking about selling my car and I just thought I would throw this out to guage reactions.

The car is well maintained 1995 Z28 Camaro 6-speed LT1. It was a highly optioned car for its day with full black leather, a bose stereo system, 150mph speedo, non-governed, with Z-rated tires. The car runs strong, and looks great. The car has 106,xxx miles on it with a brand new Rockland OEM+ 6-speed (well worth $3,000 alone) The car has seen the track with a best of 13.7 @ 103 (excellent MPH!) I am the 4th owner, and I have been daily driving it for 2 years, it is mostly high-way miles. The car last had a major tune up in mid October by TTP. It has a slight problems though; It does not start on the first turn of the key Im figuring it needs a new fuel pump.

Im looking to get $7k o.b.o. This is just to guage intrest right now, but if anyone is curious you can ask any questions you have!

The car starts, its just not instant, you have to wait a few seconds for the pump to completly prime. I drive the car every day and it still starts, its just not as instant as others.

The amount of oil on the anti-freeze dipstick was minimal It may have just been excess or in need of a flush.

are you sure it's oil? that usually says bad headgasket or crack in the block...when was the last time the cooling system was flushed?

people are gonna have a hard time coughing up 7 grand for an 11 year old car that doesn't want to start on the first try and has oil in the antifreeze...just my humble opinion, but hey - I could be wrong :D

Yeah bro... if the car doesn't start up right away, 7k is a lot. I'm going to play the part of "devils advocate prospective buyer" so don't think I'm being an ass.... your kbb value is around 4,600 private party value. Why should I buy your car if it doesn't start up properly. I could probably find other modded z28's out there for less than what you are asking that start right.

If I were you, I'd definitely fix the starter issue- only then can you really justify starting to command more than kbb price, unless you parted the car out and sold the aftermarkets separate from the car and just sold the car for kbb.

But good luck bro, keep us posted.

yeah not trying to be a dick but hell, youll never get that much for it. my car is two years older but i bought it for only 4000 and it was in pristene condition with no problems. ive got pretty much the same mods as you do and theres no way that they would ever up my price by probably even 2000 bucks. besides, mods are pretty much useless for commanding extra money out of a used car unless youve got documentation of a badass engine build up. really only when you put money into building the big things (engine, tranny, rear end, paint/appearance) does it help you get extra money on a car known to be had as "low buck" almost anywhere you go.

i think you guys are making a bigger deal out of the starting thing than it really is. instead of the usual 1.5-2second start it is a 2.5ish second start. it isn't like the car farts and stumbles while trying to get going.
$7k may be a little on the high side of the market right now, but it is also certainly worth a lot more than a $4k stocker with equal mileage.

i'm confused.....

Don't aftermarket parts make the value of a car GO DOWN?!??? I was under this impression for two reasons:

a) because you need to find someone to sell to that wants those specific aftermarket parts

b) because when a car has lots of aftermarket parts, people know you usually beat the heck out of the car on the track/wherever

Just my 2 cents

blue book wise yeah, but in real life all you have to do is find the right market.....

would you say a....... 02 zo6 with a 427 twin turbo is worth less than a bone stock one?

btw, if were gonna have a conversation about the value of resale on vehicles, then we need to make a thread in the lounge, because his classifides thread is no place for banter

look at his mods though, 90% suspension, its not liek there was juice or a blower on the car that you need to worrk about the motor/ tranny. in some cases i can see the mods hurting the sale with alexs car i can see them helping before hurting it...

good luck with it

the problem with his car is obviously the fuel pump... replace the fuel pump (along with the filter which your supposed to do with every used car you purchase) and be on your merry way. or return the car to stock and sell the parts and have a nice 3 or 4k lt1 car.

and btw- i can vouch for the car being beautiful cause it looks exactly like mine

Everyone goes to KBB first, they rape cars for price. If you look at Edmunds value (value at which I purchased the car) I can still get 7k for it. Its not a rediculous asking price for such a good looking car. The transmission alone was worth 3k. Everything works on it!

Anyone who has seen it in action can vouch that its worth that price. Im not trying to rip anyone off here. The car is mechanically sound and is very well taken care of!

with everything (except automatic) checked off and at a #1 condition vehicle its 6,700 and thats a dealer retail

And that's also for a stock car, which his is not. He has mods which would be worth money to the right buyer, and the transmission is basically brand new.

key word here is "right buyer". if i was buying a car and i saw mods on it, i would know it was beat on by the previous owner so that decreses its value. and if you bring a moded car to a dealer they'll laugh at you, and give you a price even lower then KBB. at least thats what we did to a modded 350Z.

But you also have to take into account Ive only posted this here, so people know me and know how hard it is to get me to the track... so Im looking at it from that edge.

As a quick comparison I paid $6900 for my 96 SS in October and it has automatic and 85K miles. $7K is definitely too high but $5500-6000 is reasonable. I understand where you're coming from with the new transmission, but that won't add much value to a buyer who sees a car with over 100K miles. Your best bet is to find some kid in high school who just got his license and his parents are dumb enough to buy him any car he wants. That's the only way I would see you getting near $7K.

I think its worth a little more than $7,000 . You just have to find the right buyer, and I agree some high school kid would say "MOM I WANT THAT" and boom, you have a buyer. Since hes in a pretty populated area I can see him probably getting $7500 when everything is fixed. The road I live on is a road that gets rush hour traffic ALOT, which means I can put a bag of dog**** on my front lawn with a $50 FIRM and Ill prolly get it (not seriously, but you catch my drift)

your all telling him he will have to find a buyer that wants mods..........he posted it on an enthusiast forum, so id say hes looking in the right places.

a smart consumer would realize how much that car is worth in parts. if i had the money i would buy that car and part it out and use the mods on my car (tranny, suspension, interior) and sell all the rest of the ****. body is near perfect. interior is near perfect. motor is in great shape.

F it. alex, if that tranny can somehow work with my motor and your still selling it in a month or so i'll borrow some money from someone and buy it off you.
