Ok it was between the cc305 and hotcam, but the crane 227 seems to be the best of all

Specs:
Crane 227 Cam, 210 / 224, .479 / .518 112 LSA

Thunder Racing has it, its alittle more pricey cuz of the billet core but how does it compare to a cc305 or hotcam?

THANKS ALOT FOR ANY HELP!!!!!

The 227 cam is fairly close to the lingenfelter 211/219 cam and the 304 cam too. Look through this section and you can read my opinion of the 211 cam.
As far as the 227 cam, That is a fairly small and tame cam based on the duration. You need to look at the duration as well as lift as the duration will be a factor in building top end power. If you look at the specs the 227 and 304 cam they are very close.

Comparing the 227, 305 and hotcam: The 227 has less duration then the hotcam and 305, At 210/224 you will have more mid range torque, but less top end power. Since you have an manual trans the 305 might be a better choice. With a 305 in an auto trans a convertor is needed to take full advantage on the cam. You don't have that problem.

I personally don't think your going to see allot of gains from the 227 cam?

227 Cam = 210/224, .479/.518 112 LSA
304 Cam = 210/220, .500/.510 114 LSA

Hot Cam = 218/228, .492/.492 112 LSA ( corected to 1.5 rockets)
305 Cam = 220/230, .510/.510 114 LSA

Other cams you might want to look at:

Comp cam 224-112 cam = 218/224, .495/.502 112 LSA
Combined Motor sports TN-218XL = 218/224, .526"/.536", 112 LSA
*** TN-218XE = 218/224, .526"/.536", 114LSA

*** Last cam is 114 LSA so that might help with emmisions if that is a factor?, But it will not have as lumpy an idle that we all love, but you'll still know it's there.

The 224-112 cam looks to be more of the between cam, having more duration then the 227, and slightly less lift then 305. You can probably also get that as a 114 LSA for a few dollars more?

So if you don't want the 305, then I would take a hard look at the Combined Motorsports cams. I will say I am patial to them as I have one of their custom blower cams!

The Comb. TN cams have more duration the the hotcam, less then the 305, and more lift then the both. But a 305 with 1.6 rockers is 544 lift, so if you use 1.5 rockers on the TN cam it's just slightly smaller then the 305 and it seems to be a very good option as well. Also, if you decide later you want more power throw a set of 1.6 on it and you have 560/571 lift!
