View Full Version : Any good North-Jersey mechanics looking for a high paying job?
Another job was posted within my DPW for the Township Mechanics department. The posting is gonna be taken down 10 business days from today. $47,500 / yr with EXCELLENT benefits... must have around 5 years experience, at least 3 certifications, could weld, knows hydrolics, has knowledge with dump trucks, a Class-B CDL w/Air Brake endorsement, and a HS Diploma/GED . Basically what you do is work on police cars, dump trucks, pickup trucks, fire trucks, ambulances, and garbage trucks. Im sure they will teach you things here and there but thats about it. Hours are from 7:30 - 3:30 Monday - Friday (and lots of overtime during snowstorms which is time and a half). The supervisor there has his "ups and downs" with moods but overall hes a good guy, and the other 2 mechanics are pretty cool. If anybody wants me to get info and if you need directions to fill out an application, shoot me a PM.

If u had ur CDL i think they woulda given u the job anyway seeing u have 7 certs lmao . I needed my CDL when i first started my job, and they gave me 6 months to go get it after I was hired, which was a cake test. The town pays for all the fees you put towards your CDL (as in, the fees to take the test, to add the endoursements, and a yearly check for having your CDL) One of the mechanics there now has no certs and he was taken in from our Road dept cuz he was basically the "parts-getter" . You should go apply anyway :) Hillsborough aint a far commute... some guy commutes from Tannersville PA which is about 1 hr 15 minutes from here.
Anyway, the reason why they are hiring is because a guy that, in my eyes, was the best certified diesel mechanic around the area ... was caught stealing "brass" off a firetruck that was gonna be auctioned off, so he can exchange the brass for money. He admitted to it.. and had the choice to be procesuted, or to resign... in this case he resigned... 20 years of working for the town right down the ****ter.
I dont really have any time to go and apply. I work everyday until 6 and I have to watch my younger brothers until sunday. :?
