Is anybody running either a taurus fan or a mkviii? If so what relay are you running?

Thanks Jim

The taurus fan is a very high amp unit dont hold it in your hand and plug it to a battery it will fly away hahah we used a constant amp relay ( 30 or 50 AMP ) like they use in the fords early 70s / 80s for the starter put it close to that fan and run #10 wire to it if you can from relay we used regular battery cable to the relay hot side and it will snap ( sound ) when you conect the smaller term to hot 12 volts pulles lots of amps hope your alt is high amp the taurus has a 100 amp stock jz

Your best bet is probably a DCC unit (http://www.dccontrol.com/). See it installed here (http://1974camaro.freewebpage.org/LS1_fan_install.htm). Also, check this thread (http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?p=396694#post396694) for some other setups. Also spend some tiome reading the cooling forum (http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=33) at pro-touring.

From what I have read, those are pretty high amperage setups. The DCC is seemingly the best way to go. That is what I am putting in the 77 for the LT1 fans I picked up.

LOL I know all about how much they pull and I have had this on my car for about a year now with a 40 amp relay, but I don't like how when I turn it on it pulls so hard....So, I was wondering if anybody is using a good high amp relay and possibly give me a p/n...

Thanks

Go with the DCC setup. They will probably never run full speed again.

i found one of those relays in the shop its new and i think its a ( standard ) if i remember correct on the bottom it has a tag and it has 12 V on top under it is ( UNI-0409 ) my guess universal its what we use in the shops race cars but the other dcc fan i think it was we have never used ???? it might be a better unit but we stay with what we have found that works in your question you said you have been using the ford fan for a year so you know how it works jz
