after missing the meet yesterday because of work i wasn't in a great mood, at least i got to see some racing.
the yaple motorsports #99 had another pretty good evening. started outside the front row in his heat race and finished 3rd. that got him into the feature and scored him a few points towards the drivers championship.
there were some adjustments made to the car and some serious discussion of where the line woudl be before the feature. randy started 7th and found the groove was very tight to the bottom of the track. car wasn't perfect and if he missed his marks even slightly he struggled through the corners. after a few near misses, including one that could have sent the car to the recycler, randy fought his way back to finish 12th.
he got out of the car mad at himself for his mistakes, but knowing he definately learned a lot on the evening. there are some more adjustments to be made this week on the car including one rather major suspension change. we also have our first real body work of the year to take care of since randy got squeezed hard on a restart and took a shot to the right side of the car, bending up the door panel and inner wing a bit. the only other casualty on the evening was a bent body mount that shoudl straighten right out.
2 weeks of racing, 2 points paying feature appearances. not a bad way to start a season while trying to learn a new car and a new track all at the same time.
