View Full Version : An njfboa site-based chatroom?
I know ive seen chatrooms on other websites where i am a member and i was wondering ifj it could be a future possiblity here as well. I know we could always go use aim, but i hate signing on there, and id rather chat directly through this website. Im just curious, i dont knwo what would be involved and all, but i figured id just ask.

I was just thinking about incorporating one as I was deleting the latest round of whoring attempts.
There are a few options out there, I'll look into them.

we HAD a webpage based chatroom, but its no longer :(
ok, cuz i admit the whoring did get out of control, and now with no release, itll be chaos. lol. personally i wont whore like before, but i think a cahtroom would be helpful in limiting the whoring from like 12am-3am.

quite possibly, but the thing i never liked about our aim chatrooms is you have like 50 ppl in there and its nearly impossible to read and respond to people. that why i liked the buddylist :D

but will it count towards out post count? lol
btu the buddy list would get so cluttered so fast, keeping up became rough. if the chatroom had a larger veiwing screen i think it shouldnt be that bad

prolly not, i remember justin talkin about how theres a section on the board where he can put things and it wont add to your post count. i feel he should of done that to the buddy list thread...
@paul: true but you cant qoute ppl and stuff in a chatroom and it tends to get confusing

Well, the only vBulletin-based chat programs I can find don't allow a full chatroom, just one on one messaging. If anyone knows of anything that will allow a full chatroom, let me know and I'll see about installing it.

From what I've dealt with in the past ... lemme use a photo for reference:
http://www.forest.impress.co.jp/article/1999/10/19/retrogame_pac-man.gif
Level = 1
Pacman = Chat
Pellets = Bandwidth
Pacman < Pellets = No bandwidth ... :lol:
The only thing I can think of is mIRC, set up a channel on teh site to allow ppl to click the link which brings you to the channel room . But the only ones that would prolly be in that chatroom are the more "computer-knowledgable" ppl (which are only about 10 on this site haha)
Ive also attempted to script a "chat-room" ... i lost the script somewhere... it was almost done BUT still wasnt operable ... Im sure I'll think of one when I'm sleeping.

jpilot is an web based java irc client,same thing as mirc but it can be run on the site and wouldnt require ppl to install mirc or another irc client and configure it
