Today I was using sand. I just wanted to get these valve covers un-nastied. On a side note, I need a bigger tank or a twin setup. It just doesnt have the capacity to stay with sandblasters / air tools.

Sand I use (50 lb bags for ~$4)

Why you should always strain your sand (so it doesnt clog the gun)

Note. This stuff will get EVERYWHERE. I always blast outside, with the door closed.

Sandblasting is a nasty job, done two car bodies and tons of parts, you strain it definitely but you may wanna try some 00 sand its not much more expensive than the play sand which has alot of those clumps and large things that will obstruct the nozzle.

Meh. I was just doing a set of valve covers. if I ever went to do body Id use either (if there was no rust) Baking soda, or if there was rust either glass beads or walnut shells.

Should just get a bead blaster like I have, works great and not a mess.

Yep. Baking soda is some of the mildest stuff you can use, and clean up is a breeze.
