View Full Version : My nightmare is almost over

Well, none of you folks really know my saga, but let's just say because of a guy I've already posted about who stole thousands from me, then getting de-motivated and almost getting out of the hobby because of his sorry ass and another shop who ripped me off, then going on another combat deployment last year, my 427 project got more than two years behind schedule. But this morning I heard it fired up for the first time. Wicked loud. Longtubes, orp and open Borla probably won't work anymore lol. Dynotune should be tomorrow. Be driving it to Mount Laurel in two weeks 8-) Todays pics (not much to look at):

hp?
Don't know yet. It's getting tuned tomorrow. Today it got heat cycled a couple of times to seat the rings. I'll be happy with anything north of 500rwhp, don't really care for a dyno queen as long as it has a good, safe tune. Whatever it makes, it will be too much for my Pirelli's with no sidewall :kneeslap: Gonna be cool on the highway, though.
nice car, in for more pics!

It's at Ryan's Performance Machines in Raleigh. I know Ryan built a good motor for me. His shop car is a screamer. His credientals:

No, Darton wet sleeves require me to run Evans Coolant. So I am running a $500 Evans pump. Looks almost like a stock one but it's much better. Someone is making a nice profit :-(

Yeah. He lives only about 2 miles from my new place. Unbeknownst to him, we will be meeting real soon now.

Damn, this is killing me! The shop is still tuning it. Only got 490rwhp right now, but that's at 5K rpm then it's falling on it's face. Gonna readjust the valves and check things out, hopefully it will be looking good tomorrow. It's making 450rwtq by 3500rpm so far

490/450 is still pretty damn kick ass even if it is screwing up :D

Yeah, but is has alot more left in it. I have what I believe are the best factory cast ported heads money can buy, and a port matched 90mm intake. And it's going to rev to 7K. Guess we'll see. But it's gonna be fun for sure. If I'm not driving it tomorrow night I may slit my wrists haha

Got her back today. It is much more radical than I expected 8) In my excitement, I forget to get the dyno graph so I'll have to have it e-mailed. Ended up getting I think 503rwhp and the torque was 490ish. But I had a Granatelli 85mm MAF along with a TSP 85mm lid. For some reason the MAF didn't work, so the stocker was put back on along with the old lid. Not too shabby considering it's choking the 90mm intake some. I also forgot to tell the shop that the plate with the small hole was on my Borla. When I get a new MAF and open the Borla up she should be where she ought to be.

I'm pretty sure they were using HP Tuners.

with those kinds of power numbers you would prolly want to consider going to a 3.5 or 4inch exhaust. with the amount of air the engine is processing to make that power i am sure the 3inch single tube is choking it a bit.

I'm sure that would help, but it is so freaking loud already. It sounds way more radical than I expected. Which is good. I think when I get the maf sorted out and get it broken in and open the Borla, it should hit 520-530 easily. Which is about what I expected. I am running a smallish 244/250 cam (sounds big), along with 19 inch rear wheels and 4.10's. No dyno tricks at all. So I never expected it to be a 550rwhp dyno queen. But I'll be doing some cam swaps, and maybe some ported LS7 heads later in the year. The mods never end. I just have to decide on weather to do business with Cartek or TTP.
1 vote for TTP. they are a site sponsor after all

i would think that running a 4inch exhaust through a spintech muffler(mufflex set up) would be quiter than an open borla and free up enough flow to add to your numbers.
i also second ian's vote for TTP. they are good guys, stand behind their work 100%, and they support our club :)

Damn, I just noticed TTP was a sponsor. I'll be talking to them for sure.
