Follow your dreams by all means, but keep in mind that for most people your age it'll be probably at least 5 years, give or take, before they are ready to decide what to do with their life

autobody is a tough business to be in. it is extremely tough on your body and it is hard to make decent money. thats why i got out of that business and started being a mechanic. if you are really serious about this career, than the best advise i could give you is:
-dont go to a school. you will learn alot more just starting out at a shop that is willing to teach you.
-get as much certifications that you can. this will make you worth much more.
- finally the most important thing. i cannot stress the importance if being safe. dont be stupid, wear a mask any time to spray anything. wear a paint suit and gloves. use a full face mask. if you use a disposable niosh approsed mask, they are only good for 8 hours of spray time(thats if you keep it in a sealed bag). if it is not in a sealed bag, than that reduces the live of the filters. do not play around with this stuff. it can do some serious damage to your body.
i dont mean to try and scare you, i just want you to know the risks involved in this career. good luck with this. be safe and if you have any other questions about this please let me know.
yeah......my dad tells me all the time that he probably took 10-15 years off his life from painting for so many years, i just hope hes wrong

:werd: it takes a toll on your body, seen it happen to a few people, its sad but if youre not smart about it this is what can happen.
well hes 54 and has been doing it since he was 18ish so he was doing it before all the booths had quality ventilation and before the safety equipment was up to par......
these days he only paints special projects and just does the body work on regular jobs
