i agree. but this has been discussed before. now if you guys dont care about where you park and it really just becomes all of us meeting eachother on the beach itself, that's fine. but if you guys want to be able to park somewhere all in one spot to see all the cars or whatever, we have to make arrangements at a place to do that and put down a down-payment for it. and the site doesn't have that kind of money to do that.
but i think it would easier to find a place to meet up really quickly and then all cruise down from there and park wherever. but, even that's maybe easier said than done.

Sandy Hook and Island Beach State Park both have quite a few big parking areas. I think IBSP is the nicer of the 2.

Wow - Space Station wants to drive all the way to the beach?
If you guys wanna meet up at the beach, the only place I know of that would let us all park together and still be relatively cheap would be Island Beach State Park. Any restaurant or club type place that would reserve space for us would require a deposit, and we don't have one. All of our money goes into paying for the website and into event prize funds.

Not sure when/if I'm able to go. I've got the 9-5 job with not much personal time left for the year, and I've gotta be in Bridgeport (South Jersey, opposite side of the state from the shore) on Saturdays by 4ish.
Everyone who wants to go, start posting up some possible dates....

My personal time is my sick day. I have just under 3 days left for the year. Good thing I still have 4.5 weeks of paid vacation :)

justin is right about the way shore area meets work during the tourist season. it is a cool idea and we have looked into a few options in the past to have a meet near the beach, but nothing has really worked out.
june we will be back in norht jersey and july will be centrals next meet. i will explore some options and see if there is anything that we can make work. i will warn you as justin did, without money for a huge deposit someplace this meet idea is not likely to get too far.

well all i want is for us to meet SOMEPLACE then drive to the beach, park where ever and go explore. i dont wanna drive on the damn thing, i've done plenty of beachdriving in daytona i just wanna go there as a group. im sure we can meet someplace thats not even close to the beach and the n cruise down, no?

then we run into the parking issue. to park all together we would need to find a lot to set aside spaces in the middle of their money season for us, which requires a deposit. that would still leave the wonder and worry of not knowing if all the nice cars parked together are actually safe because most of these lots operate on a "park at your own risk" basis and do not supply any sort of security other than the 15year old minding the gate.
space station doesnt care about parking together, he just wants to meet up and cruise to the beach. then once we get there its every man/woman for them selves as far as parking.

that isn't really a "meet" then is it?
ShitOnWheels
05-25-2006, 05:41 PM
Or we could all just meet at IBSP. The meets are normally later in the afternoon when a lot of the crowds start rolling out. Their lots are big enough that if the meet is at like 2pm or even later, most people could park together. Then you can hang out at the cars or go onto the beach itself. And I doubt it would require a deposit, just the money to get in.
As for eating...they have a snack stand...who said we had to go to a restaurant? Or everyone can bring sandwiches/hoagies/chips/drinks etc and just eat on the beach.
I can see sandy hook from my house. Im sure I can scout a few areas. only thing that sucks is, from memorial day to labor day its not free to park. And its gone up every year (its friggin expensive) Ill check the area to see any free parking (that is decent)

I'm with Genie on this one. That sounds like the easiest thing to do.

When we have meets, we don't really spend the WHOLE entire time just looking at the cars. We usually form some kind of circle, or several, and all chat, haha. Even if we parked somewhere for a bit, even if its not all in a row, we'd all be able to get a glimpse of the cars, and then all cruise on the road to the beach. Or just quickly gather for a bit, and then go right for the cruising. We could have a place to meet on FOOT at the beach, and then all hang out. or something. I guess you could think of this less as a "look at the cars" meet, but a "cruise to the beach meet" All of us on the road, on the way down, in a huge group, windows down, hair blowing, the sound of f-body exhausts and cut-outs in our ears, Yeah. like that.

I was thinking about this allday! cept I wanna be able to fish. how ever how about we meet up at a resteruont(sp) eat have a see the cars and then have a 30 min cruise to a beach and park where ever?
Liz and Ian understand what im talking about! good job. we will still be together after we park at the beach, we'll just meet each other somewhere by the sand  and like liz said we dont really look at cars all that much we usually separate in circles and chat, it would be pretty much the same except we would cruise there and not park in line. Eventually if it makes someone happier we can park in one line as people move out.
so where that Island place someone was talking about?

Well, I think easier than having to get/make a banner or tent, we'll choose some kind of landmark to meet at.
So far Liz, Ian, and I wanna go. who else. come one bishes! then we'll pick a date.

island beach state park:
$10 per person to get in on a weekend
$55 group picnicking
they have daily programs of an educational nature in july and august, there is a mile of water front designated as the "bathing"(pretty sure they mean swimming) area that is staffed with a lifegaurd mid-june through early september, and they also have a bunch of other points of interest around the park(mostly cool sounding educational stuff)
the site also shows the parking areas as being fairly small, i seem to remember some of them being easily large enough for us though. i will check into this further.
i don't see a policy listed on the park home page, but i am pretty sure all state parks do not allow alchohol.
p.s. somebody buy a bunch of t-shirts so we have money in teh club fund to pay the fees :D
so how about the 17th. i know a couple of people said they could go then. how about it? then we can make another thread or something

Per person or per car? Any time I went it was always per car.
And we don't need alcohol to have a good time. If you want alcohol, go out to a bar afterwards. :)
And if it's $55 to picnic no matter what the size of the group, why don't we have everyone chip in $2 if they plan to go? I have a feeling a beach meet would bring a LOT of people, you could probably get away with $1 each. I would be more than willing to chip in a couple bucks to pay $55...at least it's not the amount that some restaurants want for a deposit.
:werd: i dont think there will be a problem collecting 55 bucks. i was gonna donate some but i was just informed that i have a strip club date with some one  so i gotta save my money. and yes its a girl
or at least im suppose to, hopefully she doesnt get scared...

"everyone chip in" method of collecting money, it never works. people say they will come and don't pay or just want to show up with the money when the fees have to be paid ahead of time.

Orrr...we could all just meet up at the beach, I find that much easier. Pay your way in, and enjoy.

I was thinking along the same lines as liz in the other thread. meet up at some place near the beach, cruise to the beach and park anywhere you can find a spot. then we all meet back up on the sand.
