View Full Version : need LT headers ... opinions
I am looking to buy a set of LT headers for my '01 SS. What would you guys recommend?
Pace Setter 1 3/4 LT coated
Hooker super comp LTs
Headman (1 1/2 - 1 5/8 stepped primarys)
Kooks(1 3/4, 1 7/8, or stepped 1 3/4 - 1 7/8 )
QTPany other suggestions? pros/cons? i will be running an ORY-pipe with whatever setup i get. And as of now, i'm leaning towards the Kooks 1 7/8 headers.

go with the pacesetter coated they are nice i got em and i cant complain they fit perfect. i think the only ones i would get over thse are kooks maybe but they arelike 3x the price
yeah i heard the pace setters fit good and are the best value. but i remember back like 10 years when pacesetter was a company not really known for performance, just cheap mufflers/tips etc. so thats the idea of them that sticks in my head to be honest.
pace setter coated are like 430, kooks 1 7/8 are 780(non-coated i believe).

Kooks- nice quality headers
QTP- If you want the best of the best bar none.

I loved my pacesetters but if i had the extra $300 I wouldve gone with QTP's

ive heard alot of people bitch about QTP's Y pipes being crappy, falling apart and hanging really low, the headers are great tho. the pacesetters fit really really well and they are coated cant beat the price id say like 75% of LS1 owners use pacesetters, the kooks i also hear fit extremely well and the y pipes are very good fitting as well. but the stainless ones i think are like 1400 bucks

QTP's make the most power in every dyno shoot out i have ever read. they are pricey, but they are the best too.
spend the money to do it right the first time :)

I have Hooker Super Comps on my 91 Formula, but for my 02 Z-28, I am seriously considering Dynatech headers.
I put of set of these in a friend's SSR and the quality is just amazing. Anyone have any input on them?

yes, uber expensive, much more so then either qtps or kook's  they look great but i think they are like $1300 for the headers/ypipe isnt it?

I'd go with QTP Header's and have mufflex fab up a custom stainless Y-pipe
It cost me less than buying the QTP Y-pipe since i paid in cash
And he got my Y-pipe up higher on the driver's side than the stock Y was..
No banging, no issue's, done i don't have to go back until i do the cut-out
I think the only people who bitch about QTP fitment are the guy's that expect stuff to just go in on it's own
And my set the steering had to be moved but it was well worth it if you ask me
