Ok... out with the Monsoon and in with the new. Im yanking the entire sound system, amp included. 4 out of 6 speakers were blown out and removed by me over the winter... and now my last 2 speakers which happened to be the 4"ers, were living on borrowed time and blew out, leaving me with NO MUSIC AT ALL. Not only are these speakers, amp, and wiring getting ripped out, I mind as well go for the caboodle and finally get me an aftermarket unit. Im going all Alpine, cuz thats what I've usually gotten for all my vehicles, and the quality is great.

Gonna get 4 SPS171A's for the doors + sides, 2 SPS10C2's for the trunk ... as for the unit, I'm still looking/debating between them, but as of now i'm leaning towards the dehp6800mp Pioneer unit. I'll think about adding 10"ers w/an amp later, but for now, I just need them for my Sirius radio that I'm paying @$20/mo for listening to complete silence. Any speaker suggestions/ opinions / experiences welcome :) [/rant]

I have a large budget, but all I want right now is a headunit thatll play MP3/WMA/etc etc, four 6 1/2" , and two 4" speakers . When the time comes, I'll throw an amp and 10" subs in there. For now, all i need is a little bump.

When I bought the car, the speakers were bad except the rear 4"ers.

forget the 4" speakers. once you get the 4 6 1/2"s, go back there and disconnect them. they do more harm then good

sorry to hear about the trouble man... i had a MAJOR problem with speakers when I first got my car. I lived without sound in my baby from March 2005-September 2005 because I did not have the money to buy even a cheapass set of speakers. Oh well... live and learn. Do NOT go to Exoticustom in Hackettstown- long story short there, they do PATHETIC work, and I was out 500dollars, and still had to live without sound. Anyway, good luck man.

I usually do my own installations ... my friend with a hooked up Expedition took his truck to circuit city, and the wiring they did was HORRIBLE. He ended up losing his rear A/C, and the custom switchboard for all his lights around the truck was ****ed with.

IMO, alpine speakers are not that great, unlike their amps and head units where are phenomenal. To date, the best speakers I've ever heard are Infinity Kappa; worth every red cent. I would do Infinity Kappa components up front, analog on the doors, analog in the rear, and a 10 or 12'' Perfect.

yeah infinitys cost a little more though. once again there is always better speakers for the money then the normal alpine/pioneer name brands but its really brand preference that makes the final decision

4th gen... front = door, then sail panels, then on some cars the crappy tiny ones in the hatch panels
