what carb and distributer

Well I am taking pauls advice of getting rid of the CC carb. What distributer and carb would be the best bang for the buck? I currently have a 305 but I need to get it runing. I hopefully will have a mild 350 and I would like to use the same carb and distributer.

i say use a holley intake and holley 600 carb you'll have a mean ass torque at bottem end and a vacume advance dist holleys are easy to tune

A 600 and a regular vacuum advance HEI. A vacuum secondary Holley or an Edelbrock, either with an electric choke, will work fine.

I have had nothing but problems with edelbrock carbs, the one I had on the chevelle made its way to my dads 35 Chevy Pickup with a very very mild 307 in it, and it works okay (but then again it is a 307). Id say go with a holley

so far its holley. What do you guyas have to say about demon? also what t/c lock up controll should I get?

I have a demon on the chevelle, I like it alot, but tuning it was a little bit of a PITA...stick with a holley. Only reason I got the demon was because I got it quite a bit cheaper than what I could have gotten a Holley for.

Nothing bigger than a 650. Hell, on that 305 a 500 cfrm economaster might run better than anything else. But a 600-650 will also work on a decent 350.

in our carb box i actualy have a 500 econmaster my guess i bought it new in 1979 or 80 the latest but i dont know if they make a kit for it still its also devorsed choke type 60s type intake worked when i took it off our rotted to death gofor parts truck 73 stepside hahahahahahaha jz

matt a 650 carb should be fine, itll work on th 305 and itll be ok on a basic 350

can I get a site and some part numbers? I just checked on jegs for a 650 holley and got real confused. it said replaced q jet

Your best bet is to call holley and ask for recommendations.

I actually think Im gonna get a used holley. I still have no freaking clue on a tc lock up how ever I did read an article on tgo about them, and apparantley you can gain 1-2 full second when they are on and can light up the tires in 2

Careful buying used carbs......unless you know where it came from and can see it running on/in a car.....the deal should be very significant. Nothing worse than buying someone's homebrewed carb full of crazy mods. Especially for your 305 and even a mild 350, you won't need a carb that's all tricked out. Just a nice out of the box holley or eddy 600CFM with electric choke.

if your really interested in a used carb look around for a 650 holley with vaccum secondaries..look for one with no broken ears on the throttle plate and the parts still move..should cost no more than 40 bucks..

take it to steves carb shop in lyndhurst. for 200-300 bucks (depending on condintion) you tell him your setup and he will build that carb for you. when you change your combo he will re work the carb..he will also let you bring the car there once the carb is on and tune it.

get a vaccum advance hei dizzy..can be found used for around 50 bucks..

I have an edel on the shelf that would be perfect, but no choke. You need a choke.

so heres what Im going to do, Im getting a wiring harness for $10 bucks and hopefully I will get the car to run again. Im a bit worried on my motor condition so Im trying to figure out how much a new motor might run me, because I have 2 grand to play around with(my sisters first car was 5grand so far I got about 3 grand into mine that I still have to pay off but all the parts I have I payed for so really i have 5-6 in it.) If I do get a built 350 if worse comes to worse I could still hook up my quadrajet till I have money for a new carb tc lock up and distributer right?

how about jsut get what you already have together and working before you worry about planning for anything else. not sticking to the present is what has cost you so much money up to this point and left you with a non-running car.
