I have a brand new Rockland Standard trans in my car. It has about 5k miles on it since it was installed in October. One thing I have noticed is when the clutch is out it sounds like the something is barely touching the fly-wheel. If I put the clutch in the noise stops. Its a very obnoxious sound sitting at lights around town. It is very noisy! I should have said something about it when I first got the trans, but I figured it had something to do with the break in of the new clutch & flywheel. Should I take it back to the shop that installed it, or is there a simple way to work on it with a few tools?

I have full access to a lift & basic power tools on the weekends.

Seems like a throwout bearing problem to me.

throwout bearing noise will change/go away with the clutch depressed. that's probably whats wrong.
