Thats right, I forgot you need big dollar parts on a McDonalds budget. $200 is way too much to spend on a $800 carb.

I may have an old Holley 650 layin around out in the garage. It came off the car working, so it would just need to be cleaned up. Let me find it and get the #s off of it so I can double check its a 650.

I know you aren't looking for anything fancy, but I paid $250 for my 750 DP after it had been rebuilt. You don't want to spend $50 on a carb that has been sitting for ages, because chances are the gaskets will be dried up and it won't work right.
Gonna have to spend a bit more up front to save yourself a headache.

I wouldn't say Holly's are the best carbs that anyone can ever use, but personally I would stay away from Edelbrock carbs. I know too many people that have had issues with them.

I had an edelbrock on the chevelle for about 2 weeks before I ripped it out and bought my Demon. No matter what I did the carb would not stay tuned, had a major dead spot around 3000 RPMs and was really a PITA to deal with. I put it on my dads 35 Chevy Pickup with a 305 in it that is very very mild and it works fine, no problems. However its a damn near stock 305 that doesnt need to perform worth a squat. I would say those carbs are good for a STOCK/Very mild engine but nothing you want to make perform well. I know others who have done the same thing with edelbrock carbs and will never go back to them either.
