We are spread so thin, we literaly cannot afford another war.
Draft anyone?
Actually five missiles were fired by North Korea 4 were short range and 1 long range.

If they launch, I want fair warning, I'm humping something! "Hey baby, we're all about to die, you wanna come on over and we cou... Hello? Hello?"
i don't think a war will come of this. i don't think the north koreans are that stupid. what's key is 1) north korea wants to survive w/ status 2) china, their only significant official ally is against them. if north korea fires a nuclear warhead, they will lose all attempts at bilateral talks with the US and china will turn on them. in such a case, not only would the US be forced to retaliate, but russia, china, and all of europe would support us.
of course, we could always fire a nuke back and make a mess of earth.

Yea but you gotta figure, a SANE person would think that, Kim Jong-Il doesn't really fit that description. Where's Team America when you need them? AMERICA, F**K YEA!!
well, if theres any real mention of another war location and a need for more soilders, or possible draft, i honestly think i'd enlist. I really have no reason not to.

i would be torn. i really wanted to enlist during the invasion in iraq, but decided if i graduated from college i could better serve, since i would be placed at a level that would use my education. i think i'd go through the same thing if we were to start another war, even though i still think a war in north korea is not to be expected.

according to CNN it was 7 missles actually not 3
all the following, if its wrong, I'm just copying and pasting to fuel discussion
China prefers a divided Korea to a strong democratic Korea that would compete with them. But even they don't want too big a mess.
A number of other countries buy weapons from North Korea. They may not like North Korea, but they find them useful. "According to US sources, other customers of North Korean missile parts and technology include Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, Libya, Syria and Vietnam."
This isn't that simple. Obviously North Korea is not going to attack us. That's too nuts, even for them.
But they think that testing weapons will get them something. They may be very wrong. But we have no obvious ways to fix this situation. War against North Korea would be more costly than the war in Iraq. If we squeeze them economically, their best source of income is more weapons sales. Our best strategy may be to contain them and hope the government falls internally. Not all that wonderful.
Technically, the Korean War never ended. We're just in a really long cease fire.

Kim IS nuts, China is NOT against them, and while they might not attack the US, there is a little island country that plays a big part in the world, and its called Japan. They are not too happy about this, and IMO, the world is taking this too lightly. If there was ANYONE in the world we should be focusing military power and intel, its North Korea.

well, china is definately not for n. korea testing either. i don't think the world is taking it too lightly. really, what can be done right now? overt warfare isn't feasible for the US right now, and covert action is probably just as far-fetched considering n. korea is no newcomer to military security. diplomacy is really the best option right now.

The best stratagy(sp) is to arm Japan....plain and simple. This will deter the North Koreans somewhat but more effectively will raise concern for China and Russia, both countries who want the world to consider them as superpowers, but do not want the responsibilities that go along. Here is their big chance at showing the world they actually are worth something, but I doubt they will actually show any political strength.
diplomacy is really the best option right now.
I completely disagree........NK is a rogue nation with a dictator that completely suppresses its own people. They have proven over and over again in the last 12 years that they are liars and con not be trusted. They signed an accord during the Clinton years and immediately proceeded to break their word. Diplomacy is completely the wrong way to handle this nut job.......

i would consider arming japan to be part of politics, unless your intent is to strike and not to deter. that is the very essence of nuclear politics. i agree that diplomacy can often yield negligible results, but once nuclear weapons are involved, the ante is upted significantly. you can no longer treat the situation as you would treat iraq or even iran. if you show Kim that his reign is coming to an end and all his attempts are futile as the world's armies converge on his land, what does he have to lose in firing off a missile dipped in uranium?

We're talkign about a guy who wears his hair in a bouffant hairstyle, changed the national calendar to say that korea is only as old as the years gone by since his father's birth, and recruits 15 year old girls with clear complexions to dress nice and cheer for him known as "the joy brigade".
He's "roan-ree" and wants attention. He's completely insane.
