What year is your car? If it's 96-97 then there's a really good chance you can pass with emission's longtubes and a dual cat y-pipe since they don't actually do a tailpipe test. If the computer is happy (run O2 sims for the rear O2's) then they will just stick the mirror under the car and see the cats. But, it's technically not legal because you can't alter the location of the cats and the driver's side is right up next to the manifold. If the car is a 93-95 then you will also have to pass the tailpipe sniffer test which might take some tuning.

If you have OBD-II tuned well and they dont look under the car then shouldnt be of issue. If the cats are deleted then you are going to have to watch for the smell. I got lucky no one asked questions when the guy at a local gas station fired it up, heard the cam, and smelled the exhaust. My computer passed with flying colors so he just threw on the new sticker.

ok well you have a few easy options. one get the car inspected then install the parts and you have 4 years until you have to worry. or option B befirend the local garage the does inspections and throw some extra cash if you have to and they should pass you no guarantess so you might just wanna do it legit first time. just my .02 this is what my friends have done for some of their mods i am actually facing this dilemma myself. im gonna go with the plan to get inspected then install because in 4 years my plan is to have my current car as a dragster and one of the new camaros as my regular if they decide to make them. but its your choice because it sucks to install new parts and fail inspection and have to change your new goodies.
From what I hear, they want to see cats in the factory positions, which is up alongside the block. But some inspectors dont go by the books and if they see cats on the ypipe they will most likely pass you. I just did LT's and my car passed inspection the day I started installation. When is your inspection due?

its every 2 years, not 4.
