So in october or so I got my car back from inspection and a new cat install, that night the car became stuck in park. the next day we called cottman and they came and towed her away. I told them the problem and they said they had to take the whole trans apart to look at it, a few days later they said it needed to be rebuilt, they said it would be 400 for the tow and labor if we didnt get it rebuilt, and 900 including the rebuild and a waranty. it took about 4 weeks for a part to come in then we got the car back, I got her home and soon after the car gets stuck in Neutral. Me and scott(tojan man) fix it in 5 min with out jacking it up using a hammer... ever since then I have been pondering if it even was rebuilt...
Now Im furious.. I looked under the car to see a big puddle of red fluid, hmmm what could that be? What should I do? should I consult them about it? Should I have some one thats reputable to check if its rebuilt? How much would that run? Im SO pissed right now because thats about 800-900 I dont have, and will need to pay off SOON..

i call them all body shops... if anyone tows my car i will only pay for the towing. i dont care what you do with my car. At one time my car got towed to a shop and it spent 2 days there during which they were trying to figure out some of the electical problems, and they couldnt. guess how much i paid for their labor?! NONE! if you cant figure out and fix the problem you aint getting paid by me.

u really cant tell if it was rebuilt unless u drop the trans and take the front pump out so u can get access to the bands and clutch packs ,other then that if u drop the pan and its all dirty inside they didnt do jack ****.but if the riped u off they prolly droped the pan cleaned it and the valve body and put it back together
Look to try to see where the leak is coming from. one quick thing, when you pulled the radiator, did you move the trans lines a lot of barely, with the car being over 20 years old, theres a chance that the lines broke by the trans, so check where the leak is, or at least the general area. Also if you removed the dipstick tube, and jacked the car up, or maybe it was overfilled. It probably not as simple as those causes, but its worth looking into first

aghhh transmission woes, I have a TH350 that was "Rebuilt" and supposedly has performance parts installed but lasted me less than 500 miles. I would check where the fluid is coming from before you decide what to do. Before spending alot of money, you may want to see how the trans runs and performs.

the thing is the night when we got the car back we went on the parkway to open her up, it was bumper to bumper... we got off the park way and topped the speedo out (verry easily 85..) on some back road. It was runing awsome..
and I cant tell because one day I took like 8 hours cleaning the oil pan, and trans mission and everything...
This is just so frustrating!!!

when I told them I wanted to convert to a manual, they refused, they said it wouldnt work with my rear end, and then it would be peiced together.
Isnt that more evedance that they ripped me off?

thats just evidence they have no idea what the **** there doing or talking about, converting a trans to full maual valve bodie has nothing to do with the rear end.
check out that 700r4.com link i posted, they have some good deals on built transmissions

uh, take that **** back and you make them pay for everything. You demand the trans to be fixed, and you demand for your money back. If they give you the run around, you get the district manager's phone number, as well as some one at customer relations at headquaters. Dont let them dick you around, and dont pay anything. They touched it last, they will pay for it all, and then some.
You will NOT pay a dime for it. Dont let them con you into paying jack ****. No labor, no parts, no nothing. They touched it last, they ****ed up, they will fix it all for free.

if you dont need any body to help you with a girl and i dont think you do, you can call those people and have your car fixed the right way -- jz
How the hell did you break the trans? You never drive the car... Do you do 10 ft neutral drops in your driveway or something?
And you got hosed bigtime with that price. Time to look for a Honda.

No need for talking, just someone who will stand his or her ground. Since your mom is your guardian, and as of a few months ago, your main source of income (still is probably).
By the time you get done with them, they are gunna wish they swaped in a manual.
