i found a new respect for my 20" wheels, this past weekend I traveled out to detroit for my sisters wedding. Its around a 1400 mile round trip, so driving an SUV with the price of gas these days, i wasnt looking forward to it. In January, I drove out to detroit for the Autoshow so i had an idea of what to expect with gas mileage, but i was pretty suprised.

January Trip
1400 miles
5 tanks of gas
3.42 gears
Stock 16" wheels and tires
AVG 14 MPG

August trip
1400 miles
4 tanks of gas
3.73 gears
A/C on whole trip
20" wheels and tires
AVG 17.5

For an increase of 3.5 mpg, WITH A/C on, AND 3.73(over 3.42), i think thats incredible. Both trips i had the same driving behavior and speed range. Also this past weekend the return trip took 2 hours longer due to sitting in traffic.... so, DUBS FTW

What is the difference in the overall diameter of the tires? Anything?

the 20s are maybe 1-2" larger in diameter, but during the trip this weekend we used a gps thing to get my speed, i set cruise control at 85 and the gps said i was doing 84.7, so the larger diameter 20s didnt seem to affect my speedo... the wheels are all i could think of that would change my mileage, everythign else was the same, i even have the 3.73 rear which should have hurt it.

maybe some 24" dubs would yield 25 mph:rofl:

i remember when i had my 19s i could cruise half way down the highway in neutral just from the momentum of the heavy ass wheels. you lose gas mileage in the city trying to get those heavy ass wheels moving but once they start rolling heavier wheels dont need that much energy to keep moving

25mph? no wonder those rappers are always driving so slow in those videos. i always thought it was cause they were scared of losing one of the 15 black girls hanging out the windows

well my 20s are actually lighter than my stockers believe it or not, lol. I have giovannas, one of the better wheel companies, not heavy crap like american racing and all. so maybe the less rotating mass helped some too,

and i think baddest meant 25 MPG lol
