So, today i went racing like any other saturday... going around the turn after the first time shot i flipped up my visor like always, and the guy i ran had a car thats about a tenth or so quicker than me, so he was in front, had his chute pulled, and kicked up some dust as he pulled into the grass... well, some of it landed in my eye and i didnt really think much of it. I kept rubbing my eye and finally about 20 mins later got fed up and took some of my contact solution and tried to get whatever dust was in my eye out, to no avail. Went in the bathroom and looked in my eye, sure as **** there was a tiny speck of metal right at the top of my pupil. ugh. it wouldnt come out with flushing it, so off to the hospital i went.
Got my eye numbed, let me tell you, thats the strangest feeling ever... they can touch your eye, put **** in it, and you can see everything thats going on, but cant feel anything.. whatever was in my eye came out probably when the dr put the drops and stuff in, becuase he didnt see anything, but said i scratched the hell out of my cornea. Got xrays to make sure everything was gone, good to go. They gave me a prescription for some vicodin and handed me two percosets since drug stores are closed. I call the track to get a ride back and get told they're JUST starting 1st round because there were a lot of oil downs and stuff. I figure i probably couldnt race since i can only see clearly out of one eye. The other eye doesnt hurt but feels like there's sandpaper in it.
Got back to the track, they're just starting my class, so i say **** it, got in the staging lanes, and ended up cutting a perfect light 1st round (w00t). I ended up losing 2nd round but it was better than not racing at all.. I had a real tough time judging the finish line though.
My eye doesnt hurt, its just a very annoying feeling, feels like theres something there but theres not. I was told at the hospital that it's gonna start to hurt, but it hasnt yet.. Anyone with this experience? is the pain really bad enough to merit pain killers?? i really don't like taking meds unless i have to so i'd rather not, but if im gonna wake up in immense pain, i'll take them before hand.
