That sucks. The state hammers private guys for infractions. We lost our licenses for 90 days because of paperwork issues and one of our guys had tinted windows (they watched us & knew the day he put the sticker on). It can be very costly, just in loss of sales, forget the expensive equipment they are paying for that loses its primary use (them stupid rollers were not cheap), and potential fines.
You guys should know what you are asking people to do so you can have an extra 10 hp. Although it is nobody's fault but the shop if they get caught.

I think these days more people buy stickers for there cars then actually go for inspection. Even if they know they will pass or fail...
I did the expried sticker for a while but I didn't want to push it more then 3 months.

We got written up because we replaced some old ladys broken tail light lens with a new part, for over 200 bucks from infinity BEFORE we did the inspection. The state was unhappy that the car wasnt failed first, then re inspected with the new lens.
Had a similar run in with a guy that admited he put the tint on his truck AFTER we inspected it, but the state didnt care, and still came down on us. They were apparently watching the vehicle waiting to see what happened. It may sound ****** but its really not worth sticking your neck out for people anymore.
Bonzo will tell ya, the state will do what it wants to who it wants, and you really cant do much about it. They live in there own world. Most people look at the above situation as "The car WAS fixed properly..its not unsafe, whats the biggie?" Well, im sure he woudl agree, those are only a few of the stupid things the state has done as of late (esp after the gov't shutdown) and its getting tougher every day.
So in respect to your "friends' out there who can "get you stickers", i really wouldnt be shouting them out. If it works for you, fine, but sending someone over to them might mean throwing them under the bus. Your car could be watched by the state, and you wouldnt even know it.

Its a damn shame. Doesnt the state have anything else better to do than that BS?? shouldnt they be out catching sex offenders, murderers, drug dealers and most important of all- corrupt government officials? (oh wait they dont wanna turn themselves in)

Yup, we used to make sure we failed them for everything on the invoice that was inspectible. Or write two invoices. That came after the arguement with the state guy because we didn't fail a guy for tires even though we billed him for tires. Because he bought snow tires at the same time. His summer tires were good - no failure - a legitimate maintenance issue - but the state guy said no way.
We are just talking paperwork issues, but hey, losing that license for 90 days is very costly. I am very convinved they were dicks because they felt we were taking jobs away from them & their union breatheran.

this states inspection is bs. i wouldnt mind taking my car to a state place if they werent such a#$% about it. they failed my dads truck for one headlight being "higher" than the other.....even though they were fine never touched and they both worked perfectly. I cant take my car through yet, my wipers dont work, and the turn signal arrows on the cluster are messed up.
