after 3 years of pimping my 2mp fuji camera it finally gave up and broke on me the other day so I went looking for a replacement. Rather then buy a cheap new camera I decided to try my luck at one of the better models from last year...so for $160 shipped I was able to pick up a refurbished model with a 1 gb memory card & charger with lith ion batteries.
With the newborn It was a necessity to have a camera on hand not to mention my upcoming sema trip. Anywayz that is all

on a side note:
EBAY SUCKS!
 honestly, I was going to place a bid on a slightly nicer 6.1mp camera by kodak with a 2 gb card, but 6 hours before the end of the auction(2am) it was up past what I wanted to spend so I didnt even place a bid. Ended up just using a buy it now auction that had several units...but yes the moron's on ebay strike again.

Canon Powershot S3 IS (http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/powershot_s3-review/index.shtml) to replace the old Olympus C-3040Z that I've had since summer 2002. Olympus will be up for sale soon....

Nice. I have an A85, so not as good as yours, but the damn thing works great. AA batteries are a big help in a pinch. I use the NiMH batteries and get good life out of them. Better than the alkalines.

Don't think I paid anywhere near retail ($499) for that one....
I got the camera, a standard 512mb SD card, and a high speed 1GB SD card for $450 with tax and shipping. The camera was $372.99.

yeah I had checked it out on ebay after you posted...but $450 is a weeks pay for me...seeing as we havent received a disability check for the wife being out it's kinda hard to justify that kinda $

Understandable Bill. Knowing that it will prolly be a while before I get another (since the one I had lasted me 4 years already) I decided to spend a bit extra and get the one I wanted.
Now I just have to hope that mom won't notice that it's a little different than the old one. They are the same size and shape, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
