I did this because
1.) thunder racing has it on sale for 377.00
2.) i know its behavior and i loved how it never slipped when i was racing people and powershifing it.
This time i wont be powershifting it (as much ) so maybe i will see something like 15,000 miles out of it....
Next on the list- Mcleod or Lakewood safety bellhousing
btw are specs SFI approved ?

I think they are SFI approved, but goo dluck with it, mine stage 3 lasted 5 passes at the track and it was shot. I would never buy Spec again.

...after seeing the crap remains of a clutch that come out of my SS, never again.
 after listening to all you guys i bought a ram! spec ftl.

I guess its a hit or miss with them. i had one only last me about 5k and then go defective. if i return it and get a different clutch, do i still have to worry about the clutch exploding on me?
any clutch can explode
and if your last one went defective after only 5k, why did you buy another?

after 5k miles i don't know if it could suddenly be defective. did the flywheel or clutch material surface warp or somehting like that or did it jsut wear that fast from extremely hard driving?

i think you guys are asking too much from a clutch. its a low-priced, daily-drivable clutch that grabs damn well. you wont get that from any other clutch. my clutch has ~4k and is still going strong. i probably wont get another spec just cause i like to try new stuff. but so far, i have not one complaint with my clutch

one or 2 of those the center springs popped out. then i couldnt shift it anymore unless the car was off

it was under warranty, so i got another one for FREE
they have a 120day warranty on them

...so then if it was free, why did you say reason #1 was because it was on sale? On my spec disc all but 1 spring cracked, and the disc chewed up the flywheel and PP. I liked spec right up until i pulled mine out and saw that. I looked online and founs ton of people with the same problem and spec always said it was due to reasons other than their setup. If you got a new one for free, then thats fine, but i would have sold it off and bought something else... no need to have to do another clutch in a few months.

after if went defective on me, i got another one for free. (the one i have right now) although the life isnt very long (im sure the constant beatings and racing didnt help) I was very happy with how it performed. I know how to launch with it, and this time around, i wont be powershifting it.
