What would a decent air compressor be? Right now I would be using it for painting my engine bay, engine and doing stripes on the bottom of the car. how ever It could also be used to paint an entire car later on.
Has any one ever used the pepboys air compressors? what about the wallmart ones?
what cheap but good guns should I spray with?

watchfor a sale at sears, ya can probably get a combo on sale. right now i'm using a 110 6 hp good for almost anything except body work
if you wanna paint good, you cant really do it with a 30gallon or so compressor. i got my 60gal 220v upright from lowes and its "rated" enough to do occasional painting. most 110s will not be enough to paint.

wtf ubern00blet??! why on gods green earth are you doing stripes on the bottom of your car???? this has to be the ultimate retardation of an idea ive ever heard.
Btw, u might want to invest in an air decompressor, to get all that hot air out between your ears.

AND
The reason i picked silver is because of the color in the sun and in person, IMO the color silver I would use would clash but not in the bad way

I guess he wants to mimick what Pontiac did - my 82 was black w/gold rockers. To each his own. I've seen a lot worse.
Painting & prep (blasting, sanding, etc.) really pump up your air requirements. The minimum I would consider is something like the $499 60g at Lowes. HLVP guns require tons of air flow - you have to compare SCFM (not ACFM or generic CFM) at 40 psi & 90 psi - almost all other stats are meaningless.
Then again, I think you don't need to care about any of this. You need to get the car put back together. A cheap 30g one for an air gun is about all you need right now. You're very lucky the body of your car is in good shape.

X2.
I wouldn't consider even trying this without a large air compressor. Get the car running and driving first, before you start spending money on nonessential things.
