I am thinking about selling my 383 engine, BUT price is FIRM @ $2,000.
It has maybe 15k miles

383 long block from Speed-o-Motive in CA ('85 block)
Dart iron eagle II heads
Weiend stealth intake manifold
Pete Jackson timing gears
solid billet roller cam
solid roller lifters
1.6 ratio crane gold race roller rockers
holley 750 double pumper carb
MSD pro billet distributor
MSD 6A ignition box
MSD Blaster 2 coil
Edelbrock TES headers(for 3rd gen)
Serpentine belt drive
Moroso tall red anodized valve covers
Miloden oil pan fits 3rd gens and many others.(80-85 style pan)
...and i'll throw in a SBC engine stand with it.
..oh AND i'll throw in a TH-350 tranny

Engine is set up for extrenally balanced, so you would need a ext. balanced flywheel. The balancer on the front was bought new from GM and lists for a 400ci impala. I would love to tell you all the engine and cam specs, but to be honest, i lost that info in the past 6 years since I built it. However, a while back I contacted Speed-o-motive with my order number and they can fax me the info on the long block. Camshaft was a custom grind through Doug herbet performance, and the cam card went when i sold the car and i never saw it again.

I would recommend just pulling it apart and going through asll the gaskets and every thing like i was going to once i found a project car for it. I also recommend switching to a Dart intake manifold AND MOST importantly, the valves NEED to be adjusted. The 2 people who had the car after i built it did not know about the solid lifters and never adjusted the lash.

what kind of numbers did it put down? or was it built to put down?

long block was said to be around 425, and then i upgraded the valvetrain, i never dynoed it myself and never got around to properly tuning it(carb and timing) then i was forced to sellt he car. I had bought back the drivetrain about a year ago since i had so much money into it. If i remember correctly, it was speed-o-motives sportsman engine in 1999/2000. When i built it, i was working at a shop and me and my boss estimated the engine should eb capable of putting a 3rd gen in the mid 12's. But after i sold the car, no one since had adjusted anything or even adjusted the valves so the thing was making limited power. With the valvetrain upgrades and other stuff, i think we were thinking it was to be in the 475hp range.

Any idea what internals are in there?

Mid 12's? 475 hp should stick a decently prepped third gen well into the 11's.

I'll have to contact speed-o-motive to get the specs sine i honestly dont remember.

justin, we were being conservative since it was in a heavier car with stock suspension.

So, did this engine run after the valve train upgrades? When is the last time it ran?
