I have just recently got a 1980 trans am that I am in the process of rebuilding the 400 motor in it. The motor is in need of some parts such as a hermonic balancer and a plastict timing indictor for the timing chain cover. If anyone can help me with finding these parts it will be great. I am a north jersey high school autoshop teacher and my classes and I will be begin trying to put the motor in and getting the car to run. My Classes are also looking to turn a s10 pick up into a drag racing vehcile and our looking for a local car club or drag racing team to get invovled with the program, which hopefully would give the project some publicity and possible funding opportunities. Well if any member can help me out I hope my T/A becomes a car of future discussions.
Thanks Heyteach

My t/a is black with t-tops and tan interior with an automatic. Gold honey comb wheels. Car was given to me missing alot of interior and has some rust on rear qtr and front fender.

Yep... once again jealous. :se:
Wish my free car coulda been a 2nd gen.
Good luck with the project. Sounds like a great opportunity for you and the kids in your class - free labor in a learning environment, jumping straight into an 8 cyl. Very nice.
I want to echo Bonzo's post about going to www.transamcountry.com (http://www.transamcountry.com) I've been lurking there for a while, reading the posts and checking the cars/parts for sale section. Good friendly group that is active all across the country.
