Clutch Break In Period

I just had the SLP clutch, pressure plate and flywheel packaged installed and i LOVE IT!!!

i was wondering if anyone knew what the normal break in time was for a new clutch. the new rotors and break pads i installed a couple weeks ago have a 250-500 mile "bedding" period. I was wondering if new clutch "packages" have the same?

Most I have heard about call for 500 miles of easy driving. Check with the manufacturer to be sure.....

My take on it is this: It's all about heat cycling. Like when you burnish brake pads, or ring and pinion gears. I'd imagine that you would have problems in two situations-

1.) If you don't drive the car hard enough to get it warm
2.) You drive the car too hard and you get it too hot.

yea...to the end of the street...that is what i wanted to hear! lol. is there a "default" mileage?

using my method the clutch still grabs like a champ w/ 4800rpm launches

Depends on the manufacturer, SPEC (I know lots of people don't like them) clearly says in their destructions 400-600 miles, not highway miles though. Their website says tech dept said 600-800 miles....given the problems some people have with SPEC clutches I took the high side and put 800 miles of around-town type driving on the clutch before doing any type of aggressive driving....and no problems to report after 2 autoX events, 4 trips to atco, and numerous blasts on the street....

I'd say 500 is a good number....

i got a spec clutch and i put it in drove it to the end of the block did a nice burn out and then went to etown still works fine

i got the centerforce in the night before pontiac day 2 years ago..put less than 50 miles on it driving to the track then made 11 passes..no problems as of yet about 100 runs later...

I never got to break my spec clutch in ... it was defective and did this just pulling it out of the garage.....
