I'm tired of the 4Runner so I decided it was time to step up to a more modern daily beater. It's a 2000 SS with 33K miles so this will be the newest vehicle I have ever owned! I just have to wait for the loan approval and I should be getting the car later in the week.

Very nice! Is it stick or auto?

A4, but I couldn't turn it down with the low miles and the price. Plus, my 70 is a 4 speed so I don't mind the automatic in a daily driver.

Who cares about going to work when it snows! I didn't know what to think when he said it had the 35th stripes on it, but I think they look better on a white car than they do on the red 35th cars. It needs rear tires so that will be the first purchase before going through inspection. Other mods can wait until after the holidays or for the 4Runner to sell. There's a small knick on the driver's door and the clear coat is peeling around the rear mounted antenna. It's gonna be tough waiting for the loan to clear.

Nice find Jeff. Didn't you recently SELL a 4th gen? Or is that where the "regret selling" thread come from, with this purchase a result? :)

JL8Jeff

It's a combination of regretting selling the 96 SS(which I had to do when I bought the 70 SS396) and the 4Runner is starting to nickel and dime me. So I decided to look for a newer vehicle that I really want to drive to work. I used to drive my supercharged 93 Indy 500 Pace Car daily and towed my boat with it so that was a daily beater as well. I'll need to tow my boat with this car as well so I might need to change out the tailpipes to get the tow hitch to fit.

You need a beater truck. Really. $1500 will get you something you can tow your boat, make Depot runs, etc.

Nice! Although I didn't have an SS in mind when saw the title of the thread...not the type of car you think of when someone uses the term "beater."

you bring shame to ALL fbody owners with this sentence...im not even joking Jeff you really should be shot for towing with your fbodies.

my second 88 iroc vert. i bought (black w/white stripes) had a trailer hitch mounted to it... it was just bolted to the trunk pan. yes it was only like a 1" reciever but still what kind of people would even think thats safe/smart?.... geez

The hitch for the 4th gen cars bolts to the frame in 3 places on each side so it's definitely safe and it actually helps reduce body flex. My 93 hooked up better with it and it's very low profile so most people didn't even notice it.

that may be, but i can guarantee you they did not have towing in mind when they designed the frame.

very nice car though. wouldnt call it a beater, but you cant beat a 4th gen ss...
