a few days ago i finally got my car inspected even though i knew i would fail. i was sapposed to go in august but i didnt because the car still had problems.
yeah i know i should of still gone but whatever i didnt.

anyway i was comming home from school today and about to get on 287 but they had about 20 cops pulling people over for inspection and whatever. so the lady sees my rejection sticker and says "your sapposed to have the rejection paper in your car at all times like a registration" so she takes my info back to the car and comes back with a "failure to make repairs" ticket. i started arguing with her about how i got my car inspected a few days ago and she says "well how am i sapposed to know that" and i say "maybe you should ask me before you hurry back and write me a ticket as fast as you can" then another cop butts in and yells "its not her responsibility to carry the paper."

thats when i get mad. i told them i had 45 days to make repairs and they insisted that i was wrong or lieing and that i would have to go to court. i told them im not wasting my time in court for this ******** so i riped up the ticket and told them im not paying for this **** in the midst of all that i said something about never being like them when if i become a cop and i drove away pissed as hell after the cop goes yeah whatever just peel out of here so we can write you another ticket.

moral of the story wanqure cops can go kcuf themselves

If you were supposed to be carrying the paper in the car, and you weren't, then you really can't blame the cops for writing you a ticket. Just take the paper to court when you go and prove that you were within your time limit to have the car fixed.

Getting pissed at the cops and ripping up a ticket on the side of the road isn't solving anything, and it'll prolly only end up making the situation worse.

well it dosent say on the paper that i need it in the car, noone told me i needed it in the car, sooo i really ahd no reason to keep it in the car. i got pissed becasue teh bitch cop started getting snapy with me so i started arguing with her. then two otehr cops come over and start yelling at me that i should stop blaming her for not having my paper, which i wasnt even doing.

No offense, but based on your reaction, I'm guessing you are like 19 years old or so? You must learn to control your temper. It will only get you in trouble. In situations like that, biting your lip is usually the right idea.

The cards used to say you have to keep them in the car at all times. The cops have no way to tell you just went through in spection. That card is your proof.

yeah without the paper you can be like me and keep the rejected sticker for 9-12 months......

and you opened a can of worms ripping up the ticket.....ill bet on you getting some fun stuff in the mail + you getting pulled over more once they tell their co-workers what your car looks like

When I had my 92 RS I failed inspection because the front brakes sucked and the car would pull hard to the left. So I was driving with the rejected sticker on my window and didn't have the paperwork with me. On my way to work there was a bunch of cops doing road stops for inspection, along with a trailer setup in a parking lot to inspect the vehicles they pulled over. I got pulled over, I had no paperwork and he said if I had it at home someone could bring it down but no one was so they inspected my car. They were able to check emissions and lights but not brakes due to no skid pad. So my emissions and lights were good, so they slapped a fresh inspection sticker on  I still fixed my brakes a couple of weeks later but
I thought it was funny I got away with it at a roadside inspection

I actually got stopped with a rejection sticker once and no paperwork with me in my truck now that I think about it. I told the cop that my mechanic had the paperwork so he could order the parts I needed to make my repairs. Luckily it worked.....

back in the day... i had my 88 iroc vert... i failed inspection in OCT 2000... In june '01 i got a $123 ticket for no inspection(45 days were up just by a few haha) then got pulled over again in July '01 (still with rejected sticker from OCT) this time i had NO paperwork, no ID, nothing. Cop asked for anything with my name/DL #, so i asked him if an old ticket would work, he said yea, as i'm handing it to him, he asks what it was for, i say "no inspection" lol. with that he looked at it, looked at me, and smiled/chuckled a lil. He then told me to "take this thing home" and to have a good day. I dont see why people have so much trouble with cops... be nice/honest and it works out for the most part. And that was all before i had connections :-)

yeah i was pulled over in my blazer before for not haveing a good sticker...it was kinda funny but made me mad cause i had been fighting with the m.v.c and all....because they keep saying i owe them money when i didnt...so they suspended my d.l. and i didnt even know...so i got a tickit for that instead of having a dead sticker...but i got away with it...in court cause i got it all fixed and my d.l.

So let me get this straight. You got mad at the cop because you can't prove when they slapped the rejected sticker on? Riiiiiiight. You want to know why she got snippy? She probably had 25 other people crying the same story that day. Maybe you weren't told you needed that paper, that's probably true but that's not the cop's problem. Ripping it up in front of them probably wasn't smart. If I was a cop and saw you do that I'd hope a little piece of paper fell on the ground so I could write your ass a littering ticket.

Just bring that slip of paper with the date on it to court and they'll throw it out. It's more of an inconvenience than anything.

shane27
12-12-2006, 10:00 PM
ok. theres no way they can send me another ticket in the mail. isnt happening. i riped up the ticket and threw it in my backseat, and they cant write me a ticket for getting mad at them and ripping up my ticket, so idk what some of you are trying to get at.

maybe i should of had the paper, but i dont think its right to give me a ticket. they can tell if my car is registered through their computers, so why cant they see that i was just at inspection?

I said if I was I was a cop and saw you act all big tough by ripping up the ticket I'd hope a piece fell on the ground so I could write you a littering ticket.

Look at it this way man, you said flat out the current sticker on there now is from August. So either way you didn't get it inspected on time so it caught up with you. Was it ****** they gave you a ticket? Sure is but they don't know you from anyone. Do you know how many people probably lied about when they got their rejected sticker? Put yourself in the cop's shoes for just a second. They've heard EVERY excuse in the book. What makes you any different in their eyes? Nothing.

Just bring your inspection paper to court and forget about the fine. Like I said it's not that big of a deal..just a minor inconvenience. It's not like they tried impounding your car or something.

yeah man wtf?

im willing to bet no one here on this board has been pulled over more then me, so by seniority my opinion counts the most.... no matter how big of a jerk the cop is being to you, if you be nice to him and stay calm, he will eventually turn around and have mercy on you. not only that, but its just childish to act otherwise. cops have the right to pull you over for doing 31 in a 30, so why argue with them if someone else is doing something worse? remember, they could always make it harder for you.

moral of the story- cops are human and have a heart. it hasnt been since last year that i got pulled over twice in 5 minutes in new brunswick that a cop didnt stop his dickheadedness after seeing that i am a nice guy and show mercy. trust me, its been less then a week since the last time i was pulled over fyi

It's a priviledge to drive and you must maintain a safe vehicle. You drive around with an overdue inspection and then a failed inspection so you deserve the ticket. If you act up with a cop, you deserve another ticket. If your vehicle isn't safe to operate then it should be taken off the road before something bad happens so someone else. You guys need to understand that you don't have the right to drive. Take a deep breath and say "I was completely wrong and I'm lucky I didn't get 3 or 4 tickets". If you can't get your car to pass inspection then you shouldn't be driving it. Period!

i find when confronted by the man, if you treat them with respect they will generally not stick it to you. the whole "you're right and i'm an *******" thing goes a long way when dealing with police officers.

and about the blinker...the blinker and 4-ways are on 2 different circuits. even if you pull the blinker fuse, the 4-ways will still work. i would check the grounds on the side youre having problems with.

i may be willing to take you up on that bet, ive easily hit 120+ times...lol.

and everything else jake said is 100% true.

as for getting pulled over again in a short period of time... i got pulled over for tints back in the day and 4 cop cars showed up. i was let go since i had a doctors note for it, hehe(thats another story), but when they let me go, i drove 50ft to a stop light, light went green, i went and a cop sitting at the light pulled out and pulled me over right away. That cop wasnt one of the previous 4 so they had no clue. When she came up to the car, i just rolled my windows down, put my hands on the wheel and stared straight ahead. Just as she got to my window, with hand on her gun i think too, she got the radio call from the cops down the road to let me go. i made some smart, NOT rude comments to her, like when she asked where was i going i said "outta here" she said "excuse me?", so i replied with "out of this town" and basically with that, i was on my way again.

I dont see why people have so much trouble with cops... be nice/honest and it works out for the most part. And that was all before i had connections :-)

sounds to me like the cops had a bit of an attitude. doesn't sound like being nice/honest would've helped out here.

you don't know how long they had been there - could've been hours of the same stuff, ie: people lying to get out of tickets, some with the most stupid excuses ever... also sounds like maybe the woman was a rookie or just hot looking (and the male cops were "protecting her" in order to get some). who knows how many of them were dipping it.

not to excuse anyone's behavior in this situation. it sounded like you could've been the bigger man and just let their comments roll off of you and saved your anger for when they were out of sight (sound). definitely fight this ticket in court, but keep the personal comments out of it - especially the part about you ripping the ticket up. the judge could have an attitude, too, and you could end up with max fines and/or contempt of court.

Whoever said they can pull you over for 31 in a 30 - they can't. Their radar is +/- 1 mph so it needs to be 31.1, or in this case, 32 before they can pull you over. We had a cop come to our school and tell us stuff for physics and that came up. Make sure you find out when it was last tuned as well. it can be off if not tuned frequently. And for all y'all who ever drive through long valley - watch out because they pull over everybody there.

No, the cop def. said +/- 1 mph. Maybe other cops aren't as high tech. But yeah, most cops gives at least a 5mph courtesy. Except in my town haha.
If you are doing 31 in a 30 (according to radar), then cannot pull you over because you might be doing 30 in reality. If it's for something different than speeding then obviously they can.
