Now I'm not a fan of Mustangs but I appreciate what they've help accomplish in terms of bringing performance to the masses alongside the camaro and firebird.

That said... this is F'n UNBELEIVABLE...

Ford REALLY is in trouble if this is true... :(

i dont think its that much of an abomination... cool for them i guess.

dealers do odd stuff like that but whatever.

When GM brought back the impala SS name in 96 many were upset beacuse it was a 4 door caprice.
In 1990 the grand prix name was also added to a 4 door model
I dont even need to get started on the charger

Even just what a dealer puts a name on makes for a lot of people complaining. ie the "new" GTO... personally i think it a should have been a Monaro still, or at least got a new name all its own.

Not that long ago, i heard rumors that at one time FORD MO CO was considerign adding a 2 door sports car to the lincoln line, and it was going to be based off a mustang and just badged/upgraded as a Lincoln. i thought that would have been pretty cool. Perhaps this "4 door concept" will make a debut and the lincoln version will be the new LS. And before you start saying.. "a lincoln mustang WTF??" think about camaros vs firebirds...

my point is... let them do what they want, it would sell regardless though, a family mustang, lol

Its not a Mustang sedan, but Ford has thought about taking the Mustang and creating its own brand, Mustang. The Mustang brand would use only RWD performance products, and could be a set up to bring the next gen Aussie Ford products to the US. They would all share some sort of Mustang design to a degree.
Other Die-Hards might remember GM thinking about spining off Corvette to be its own brand, in which there would be a mid engine car, th estandard corvette, the Camaro would join the ranks, and probably the precurser to the Kappa cars such as the Solstice and Sky.

I click on the link, but see no pictures, just the blurb on it...

Anyway, this isn't the first time ideas like this have been tossed around with high performance cars. GM flirted with the idea almost 30 years ago...

Didn't say it looked good either, just throwing it out there. The Mustang one really doesn't look that bad though.

I agree. The front looks really good, but taking cars that followed one formula (which obviously has worked) for 40+ years and suddenly changing it is moronic. This is a no no. But I do like Ford's decision to introduce a new Mustang every year. There are talks of a new Bullitt model for later this year, and a new Boss.
