EDIT- 1977 T/A, auto, hardtop, some rust on the body and rear subframes rusted, im sure they are fixable, would need some building up possibly. no motor or trans in it, basically a roller. will find out what else it does/does not have. I'll be picking it up within the next couple weeks and also have title. i will get pics as soon as i get the car
EDIT- 350 engine, looks to be complete, not seized, 3970014 is the block casting number if i remember correctly. will throw that in with the car if you buy it. pics down below of page. since it would need some work, $500obo for the car, just throwin a price out there. will have better pics in a few days, i couldnt find my digital camera so i had to use my video camera

Interested but I'd need to sell my 88TA first.
When you get the car in please send some general pics of the body and interior to: samael@earthlink.net
I try to do most of the work myself so the less complicated the restore, the better. I can work with Paul R. on an engine replacement.
Thanks.

That appears to be a base 77-78 Firebird.
Unfortunately thats beyond my skill. Probably affordable, but beyond what I could do.
Good luck!

Ill find out for sure when i get the title

a little research is pointing towards it most likely being a base car with a V8 option. although, as far as i know it was only the T/A's that got the bird on the sail panel.
98t/adriver, hit me up when you get the title. i really wanna get a look at that car when i am back from my adventures in the north.
98tadriver
01-10-2007, 09:06 PM
will do!
100% def not a t/a
no fender vents, ...has firebird emblem on the fender, (base birds DID get the sail panel bird..it was an optional appearance thing) trans ams DID NOT EVER come with dummy lights..they all had full gauge instrumentation, that car however has no tach....pic is bad and i cant tell if its just the overgrown clock, or if its the 3 dummy lights..
in any case..just a regular base model bird...and not worth much more then the price of scrap....especially with that much rust
before i get flamed i'm just tring to be helpful and honest and inform him on the car...so blah..

Dan , I generally agree. Would a title even matter? TA is a trim package, not a model. All the title has is the vin. Anything else it says doesn't really count.

NJSPEEDER
01-13-2007, 01:49 PM
the protecto plate on the firewall will explain all the trims and options. the title may or may not say firebird/trans am/formula, depends hwo things were filled out when the car was first registered. the lazier the first person to register the car was, the less accurate the description will be

it is a rust bucket, and isn't worth restoring...i've had more then enough of them to judge that fact...
that car is barely worth scrap value

I think I'll be ok, im up to date on my tetanus shots. And as far as scrap value goes, 8.00/100lbs for cars is pretty darn good. PLus i have alot of **** around the yard to throw in there if that's gonna be the case. So as you can see, i make money either way. BRINGIN HER HOME TODAY!

any car is worth restoring IMO, hell with the money i have into the 88 i could have a C5 and its not even close to done
i didnt say it wasn't worth anything in scrap..i said it was barely worth scrap value as a car...i didnt say it wasn't worth anything in scrap form
that thing will need more to get it even close to upto snuff then it would be worth
and like i said above..i'm not trying to be a dick..just dont want to see anyone get into a project thats a lost cause....also..if you end up scrapping it...i'd bet you could at least find afew pieces on there to throw on ebay so you could make out quite well
good luck to you on what ya do ith it and i wish teh best to whoever may attempt to fix that thing up
98tadriver
01-18-2007, 04:32 PM
No project is a lost cause, and why would you worry about other people anyway? its their choice as far as what they want to do with the car. Most of us are grown-ups here that can make their own decisions. ANywayits home, but weather is sh!tty, i'll get pics of it when its not raining out. i didnt check the weather, so i dunno when that will be. BTW, im not trying to be a douchebag or anything either. (and no im not calling anyone a douchebag out of context!)

01-18-2007, 07:55 PM
haah did you just call him a doucshbag out of context... anyway if i was you and you really have your heart set on this car go look em up an see what they are selling for cuase the car is only worth 10 grand when your done and you spent 25 grand.... thats not a good thing there is so many cars out there cause that car is a hell of alota work... with that said its a base firebird so you can do with it what you want.... tub it out or what ever ya know its not gonna be like your choppen up some rare T/A that is worth so much being a factory resto... personally id rather do up a firebird rather than a t/a cause i know i dont want a factory car and otherwise itd be a waste of a good car.... good choice with the 77 tho... 77-78 are my fav's good luck with it what ever you do....( big block.... just an idea.. heheh)

if you only worry about what the end result is worth when you are messing with cars you may as well give up and buy a honda now. at least then your car will get great mileage while it depreciates. lol

here here on not worth the money, but you do it anyways. My camaro was estimate twice as much to repair then worth, but I did it anyways, and I look back on it today, I could of either put a nice down payment on an 06' Eclipse GT, or had my baby back...glad I stuck wiht the domestic. ive dumped alot of money into many of my rides and got almost nothing out of it in return, but you know what, i had fun doig it,thats all that matters. life is ment for fun, not money metters, moeny comes an goes, but your passion and hobby of something is part of what counts in life.

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c219/98tadriver/headers3.jpg
also, a radiator out of it, looks to be good
driveshaft is also good!
350 SBC would be thrown in with car, from intake to pan, minus the distributor. if car is bought as a whole. if not ill sell it seperately. not seized or blown up.

Man, I thought I was the only person to have subframes turn out like that on heir car. I used to own a 79, and it could of been a fixer upper, but never got round to it, and as soon as you knw it, it was too far for me. my subs looked just like that.

Nope. You could push your finger through the old ones on my '69, and the ones on my old '78Z were destroyed at both front spring pockets.
The repair is not as bad as it would seem if they are only bad in the front. If you have a welder and cutouts from a donor car it's 2 or 3 days work.
looks like a great parts car, if you part it, i'd buy the emblems from the fenders just to have..adn the lil bird on the dash bezel :)

I second that, my 79 was to be my project car ,but after listing all the stuff just to get teh body back in good shape I almost crapped my pants ,so I put it on the back burner.....I wish I stil had it tho, so my answer is, if you think you could handle the task of those rear sub frames, more power to ya, but somethings are too far gone to rebuild, but then again, if your good wihta torch and a welder ,get that bitch and fix er' up bro.
