I need to find out about the inconsistency. But my 'slow' speeds still add a zero to the OPTONLINE speeds. Hey Cablevision, kiss my butt! TV is next...
Damn install was an all day event. But would have been perfect if not for my setup for torrents. It seems if you use the wrong DNS ip's, nothing works. :)

inconsistant connection speeds and regular outages are why i got rid of concast. never looked back. my DSL connection has been faster from day1 and now that i am on fiber it moves event faster.

Comcast Cable download speedsare 4300-4900 but the upload speed must be limited its always around 350-380.
I've heard good things from people who have the FIOS system already.

I have optimum boost running thru 6 household computers and an xbox 360, it is indeed uberfast. Lets just say downloading a 2 hour movie only took 12 minutes.

i have regular opt. and there is no way it is 15Mbps

When I had the regular opt online, i easily had 12MBPS consistantly... its those evening hours when it used to plummet, cuz it seems like the whole tri-state area was logged on lmao.

depending on where/when i test it i get 1mbps to 10 (it can be a matter of seconds)
it's so weird...
edit://

Cablevision can bite me. They cap upload speeds without telling you (god forbid you try to use the bandwidth they so rave about), which also kills d/l speed. The boost service should cost what the normal service costs, and the regular service should be dsl cheap. And the boost is still more $$ than the equi. FIOS, I believe (I have to check again).
Plus I hate cablevision. Their incompetent tech service, I had their people flat lie to me. Awful. And I had no Yankees for a year. Yeah, I didn't forget that.

FiOS FTW! I'm calling this week, especially because their new basic TV package has a ton more channels than Cablevision, and the monthly cost is the same. Say BuhBye to Cable!

Not available yet in Hillsborough.
I've heard mixed reviews now about the up time and potential for failure due to weather, shifting ground where the optics are buried, etc. *shrugs* Guess I'll wait until its available in my area and look to see how much it costs.

Comcast even states that your upload speed is limited so that shouldn't be a surprise. When we had dialup here at our house the phone lines were so bad we could only get connected at 26K even with a 56K modem. DSL was not availble at my location so I had no choice but Comcast. I haven't seen any down time now in a while. I'm not sure if FIOS is available here yet or not. I don't upload much other than my lousy pictures so it doesn't really matter.
I just ran a couple of tests and my download speed is around 4500-4700 mbs and upload is 356. Bonzo, your cable connection must have had some serious problems to get numbers that low or your household watches a lot of tv! :D
