I know they just announced a new convertible model, but whats going on with this car? Its starting to make me wonder if they are seriously ever going to make it! For some reason I remember back when they were going to introduce the new Z06 there were tons of spy photos and test vehicles on the road at least a year & a half before it actually came out. How come we haven't seen any test shots, spy photos or any new production pictures? All i keep seeing is the same drive-able silver car. I'm honestly loosing interest in the car itself, what gives?
I just feel like GM rushed us a concept car to satisfy our hunger for a new camaro, but they aren't even close to being ready.
Maybe Al can chime in here!

exactly... i think GM was surprised with the publics interest in the charger and mustang and decided to jump on the band wagon, not having the new camaro ready for productiuon they keep leaking photos and such so people hold off on buying the fords and doges and wait for the camero (im cynical by nature) im a fan of chevy but the mustang, that thing is hot, the new camaro... eh

As we speak, there are hand built pre-production cars running around Australian for tuning. There wont be any production cars because, errr....there is no production car to take pictures of!! Oshawa is still busy making W bodies. If you are losing interest now as a concept, whats gunna happen when you buy the car for 4-5 years and it sits in your driveway?
I still smile from ear to ear when I see the silver concept, and I smiled even harder when I saw the vert.

Thats possible. I mean, I can see the attraction to the Mustang. Solid rear, 300hp V8, 5spd manual, rear wheel drive, under 30k. I mean, who wouldnt want a car that can just keep up with a 5 year old fbody? No-Brainer!!
And the Charger!! Oh man, nothing gets me more excited then 2+tons of sports car..errish...thing, 2 TONS OF HEMI POWERED SOMETHING!!

So, the car showed up last winter as a concept car, they annouced this past summer (what, 7 months ago?) they are building it the for 2009 model year, and you wonder if they are gonna make it because you haven't seen it driving around? What did you expect, instant car, suddenly bumped up 18-24 months early?
Save your pennies, I bet it will arrive spring 2008. So a year + from now. that's record time for GM.

I can't drive for a long time anyway so it doesnt matter to me. I think the wait for this car is no problem, it is so worth it.

Just remember that the fastest Mustang from every year it has been in production has been slower than the fastest F-Body from the same year. :D

Damn thing was born to be a convertible. Absolutely beautiful.
I actually got to see the real thing in person a few weeks ago over at Design Center. It's even better looking in person.
So, the new Camaro has been seen, just not by us yet...
