View Full Version : Hydra-Rev kit?

Has anyone ever seen these, or used these? I'm not really grasping the idea of how it works, or if it will benefit my combination.

I was reading a few threads with people using the CC306 cam on their stock short-block LT1's and every once in a while, people bump in saying that they are using this set-up or that someone should be using this.

My personal set up is a cc306, stock lifters, Comp .0072 Chromemoly Push-Rods , & Comp Magnum 1.52RR

Also any idea of which part number I am supposed to use? If you guys think its a good idea, I may go ahead with it and call AFR.

it really depends on what valve springs you're running. if you're running the correct valve springs with enough pressure, you should be fine. all that kit does is push down on the lifter and act like a second set of valve springs.

I'm running Comp 977 springs,Comp Ti +.050 retainers/seats/locks & ARP 7/16 studs.

I'm just trying to take every safety per cation, so I don't run into to many ridiculous problems

I wouldnt worry about the rev kit. adding more parts to a street motor is not the easiest way to avoid problems in my opinion.

For what its worth the kit you pictured is very tricky to install, When ed isky invented it in the late 50s /E 60s it was used on the stock cars of the day ( nascar ) was intended for sustained high enging speeds -- the blocks had to be machined if springs contacted the water jacket PLEASE NOTE : ( light pressure small diameter valve springs slinkie < they walk hitting the block > )) (( - and sometimes the bottom of the heads had to be made flat enough to balance the springs from end to end ( equlize the pressure ) -- as well as side to side -- left and right on the heads -- not to menchion the tops of the lifters needed to end up in the exact same location as installed onto them -- all for maybe 75 pounds of pressure -- it was very expensive to do that 25 / 35 years ago and i dought many of todays shops ever even seen it done much less done it themselves > reason being ( valve spring tech has come a very long way ) -- dont look for anything thats not stupid simple -- todays stuff is light years from some of the early stuff -- just my take -- jz
